spambayes quit working and won't reinstall

I am running Outlook 2003 and had Spambayes running fine. All of a sudden it quit working. I have read the trouble shooting manual and nothing seems to work. I have uninstalled Spambayes and reinstalled several times. The log file says it is registered. When I go to the Advanced options/Comm Addinns dialog Spambay show in the list but unchecked. I check it and then restart Outlook. No Spambayes. The addin dialog then shows it unchecked again. Right now I don’t have any other ideas about what to try. Spam in Images

Over the past month or more I have noticed a large increase in the amount of spam I receive with the Spam text translated into images. The actual text of the message is benign gibberish designed to pass Bayesian filters. They have even taken the step of inserting random bits into the image so that no two images have the same signature. I've received many multiple messages with the same fundamental image. I haven't thought of a decent way to filter these types of things. I hope someone else can and that it can get implemented into SpamBayes. Until recently I was very please that only a few messages a day (of 20-50) make it through. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Hello, I've just started using Spambayes 1.1a2, and I'm quite happy with it (I had been using the Outlook plugin until now). However, I'm seeing an intermittent problem with sb_imapfilter.py. Cannot find saved message Usually it'll run OK for a day or two, but sometimes for just a few hours before crashing. If I don't notice for a while and messages pile up in the inbox without being classified, Spambayes will sometimes crash before classifying a dozen or less messages, when I start it again. I've tried training several times, and have never seen this error; it's only appeared when classifying. Also, the server runs Courier IMAP, but I don't know the version. I'm using IMAP over SSL, on port 993. I found that I'm not the first person to see this error message: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/spambayes-dev/2004-November/003232.html I ran imapfilter with -i4 as suggested there, and saw the following just before the crash. Here's what looks like happened: messages 1-19 in the INBOX were previously classified. New messages were 20-31. Spambayes classified messages 20-24, the first four were ham and the last was spam. The messages were written out OK; 32-35 are copies of the ham with added headers, and the spam ended up in the spam folder. So if I'm reading the output right, Spambayes was looking for messages 31, 33, 34, and 35. That looks odd - if 32-35 were just written out, why is Spambayes querying message 31 and not 32? message rules

Hello all, I have recently installed Spambayes on my machine. I am running windows 2000 professional and using outlook 2000 as my email client. I am having difficulty with just one aspect of my spambayes setup, that being where I have filtering for message rules. It appears that any message that meets the requirements of my message rule avoids the attention on spambayes. This seems to me like too simple a problem for there not to be a solution. Can anyone let me know what it might be. Many thanks Andy

Hello all, After over a year of using SpamBayes, I encountered very strange, and to my regret, not reparable, behaviour. What is odd - I did not change anything in my system, what could cause such strange things happening. When I launch the sb_server.py it starts OK. Getting new emails is also OK, they are sorted. But, when I try to train using web interface (localhost:8880) I am getting first page, I click TRAIN and I get the below shown error. I tried stopping sb_server, removing spambayes.messageinfo.db and restarting it, but same thing happened - three times. So I decided to write here :| Maybe someone will have idea, what to do. Installing for all users

I am trying to install SpamBayes on one machine with multiple users. I can only install as an administrator, but that doesn't help the users who log in. Is there a way that I can install as administrator and have it available for all the users on that machine? Thank you for your attention in this matter. Inconsistencies in classification between my mail reader and the web interface - being flooded by spam

Backdrop: I've been using Spambayes for a couple of years, and have had it running successfully on many computers, both Windows and Linux. This message concerns installations on Linux boxes. In the past few months, I've been seeing a steady deterioration of Spambayes' performance, and it seemed like I was seeing messages in the Web Interface Review page that were being classified as spam, yet, in my mail reader, they were winding up in the Inbox or my unsure folder. Tonight, I decided to take the time and confirm that. Below are two headers from the same message, one is a cut/paste from my Kmail reader window, and the other is a cut/paste from my Spambayes Web Interface review page. There's several things that show it's the exact same message. Note the ESMTPid which are both k8S0Y57Q009225, and the X-Spambayes-MailId which are both 1159403792. YET, one is classified as spam and the other is classified as unsure. How could this be happenning? Sometime in the past year, someone incorporated code in Kmail that allows it to detect the presence of Spambayes on the machine in a wizard interface, and it configures a few filters for you if you choose to allow that. The filters are fairly innocuous, and seem to do what they're supposed to. But, I'm wondering if they're the problem. The filter merely examines the spambayes classification line in the header and sends spam to the trash bin, and unsure to a folder of your choosing, seems right to me. Then, it configures a couple of buttons that appear on the toolbar, and those are linked to manual filtering actions: "sb_filter.py -s" for the spam button and "sb_filter.py -g" for the not spam button. If the Spambayes proxy-server is processing the message, how could one version appear in my mail reader's viewing pane, and a different one appear in the web interface??? This is very strange. Spambayes uninstall
