My computer lost power very ungracefully, and when I rebooted, I got a message from Outlook saying the SpamBayes addin had created a critical error. I have since tried to cure the problem by uninstalling spambayes and reinstalling, twice, with no result. The item is on the tool bar but is inactive. Any suggestions? Jon Hart (503) 314-0707

You can forget this request for help. PCWorld had an older version of your program on its website. spambayes won't install

I had to reinstall SpamBayes today and it won't work. (last week I had to reset my computer to the original factory settings and as a result had to reload all my programs on my computer) Previously, SpamBayes worked beautifully. I run Outlook 2000. Today I reinstalled SpamBayes and when it gets to the end of the installation process, I get a error sound from my computer, like it wasn't able to finish installing. But it doesn't give me any sort of error message. It just closes out. So, I opened Outlook hoping to get the SpamBayes wizard, but nothing happens. Did you ever figure out what went wrong? I am trying to use the proxy and it is giving me the same errors. I am wanting to use both the outlook plug-in and the proxy. I use outlook for my work email and Thunderbird for my personal. Plugin Technical problem

Hi all, Just wondering if you guys have ever run into a problem with the outlook plugin where during initialization it complains of a C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\temp.edb file being marked as "in use" by another program. Any ideas? Also, is there any way to customize the installation process for the plugin? Specifically, I'm looking for a way to change the default location of the training database files before or after installation. I've checked the FAQ, and it kind of mentions this, but I think it may only apply to the python installer and/or only the server proxy and filter. Appreciate any feedback you could give. People, A very useful program - saves me endless amounts of time. A question. Can I manually force a spambayes scan of a mailbox? Reason - sometimes I have to bulk import email as attachments and them copy them into my inbox. This mechanism by passes spambyes and thus means much manual work. Problem with POP3 Proxy: Service stops by itself + comments and feed back

Hi, I am using SpamBayes POP3 Proxy Version 1.0.4 (March 2005) (binary), with version 2.3.5 (#62, Feb 8 2005, 16:23:02) [MSC v.1200 32 bit (Intel)] of Python; my operating system is Windows 5.1.2600.2 (Service Pack 2). I have trained 1108 ham and 1155 spam. The problem I am having is SpamBayes service keeps stopping by itself. - Sometimes the SpamBayes service stop (icon in TaskTray changes from green/play to red/stop) and when I start it goes back to stop. To cause it to start again I have to exit SpamBayes and run it again. Other comments: 1. Non-English characters (Hebrew for instance - both Windows-1255 and Unicode UTF8) are displayed as gibberish in review screen. 2. SSL is not supported (needed for additional filtering of Gmail's emails). 3. Maybe you could add a blue-frog style automatic encrypted-database opt-out for reviewed messages marked as spam by user? Other than that, thanks for the great program, it works even better than Google's spam filter. Danny.
