I am using SpamBayes POP3 Proxy Version 1.0.4 (March 2005) (binary), with version 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Apr 18 2007, 08:51:08) [MSC v.1310 32 bit (Intel)] of Python; my operating system is Windows 5.1.2600.2 (Service Pack 3). I have trained 0 ham and 3 spam. The problem I am having is that i dont know if spambayes can use IMAP? Cauz it seems not so... tahnks xD

That's not bundled in the binary as I recall so you will have to install Python and use the SpamBayes source install. Despite the alpha-ness of the numbering you should also use 1.1a4 instead of 1.0.4. -- Skip Montanaro - skip@pobox.com - http://smontanaro.dyndns.org/
Hm, okay but why isnt this bundled in the whole package? it would improve the whole thing!! however lets seek the source :-/ skip@pobox.com schrieb:

djdomi> Hm, okay but why isnt this bundled in the whole package? it djdomi> would improve the whole thing!! It takes work to implement. I believe at the time it was assumed Windows folks used Outlook or Outlook Express. There is a plugin configured for Outlook. For OE there is the POP3 proxy (I don't think it does IMAP). I don't know how much Thunderbird or other mail apps were used on Windows at the time the detector code was written for the installer. That's my recollection anyway. Also, I'm not a Windows guy, so I don't even know where to look for further clues. -- Skip Montanaro - skip@pobox.com - http://smontanaro.dyndns.org/

I'm not a Windows guy either, but AFAIK Microsoft will be dropping OE in future Windows versions? They are promoting their "Live"-services (something similar to Gmail, I presume). Spambayes won't work with that either.

I suspect we'll see WinXP for awhile yet so Outlook Express should be with us for awhile. I agree though that we do need to consider how the environment the Windows installer sees might be different today and tomorrow than it was yesterday. I'm just not competent to implement the necessary changes. -- Skip Montanaro - skip@pobox.com - http://smontanaro.dyndns.org/

I've never talked about a M$ Product - i dont care about them cauz O/OE is such limited in its Filtering functions that i've put a dummy-file on it to replace the whole thing :-P Thunderbird 4tw (In German Thunderbird means "Donnervogel" and FireFox; "Feuerfuchs", which gernates a funny words) <- sorry for off-topic ->

i dont know if actually Outlook or even its smaller express variant still is present on my system, but, i prefer Thunderbird instead of M$ the reason is the Spamfilter and the Filter-Possilities. so why should this feature not packed into a packaged like for thunderbird that would may improve about 10000% - or my i only do i think so?

I have the code for ThunderBayes which is an extension which better integrates T-Bird with SpamBayes. I've not yet done anything with it though. It's not even in Subversion yet. If you'd like to be a guinea pig and provide feedback, let me know. That will help motivate me, but I have very little spare time right now, so if you don't have the time I will hold off on building a distribution. -- Skip Montanaro - skip@pobox.com - http://smontanaro.dyndns.org/
if you gonna tell me how i could help you, cauz im still seeking for a package, that i'd just install, configure about a iface and can use it for my imap accounts. That is, what still seems not to be present... as Plugins anywhere!! And that would be maybe a good idee, cauz we could then say full support for imap not only for pop3... Yeha i know that the most ppl use Pop3 but it has even a bigger % of ppl that use imap instead pop3 cauz if its advantage. i hope i dont generate such bad english :-)) skip@pobox.com schrieb:
