Hello, My name is Andy Stevens, member of the editorial team of Belgium's leading computer consumer magazine Clickx Magazine. We are including a free covermount DVD with our Clickx Magazine n° 157 (November 13, 2007), and we would like to include SpamBayes on that DVD. Can you please give us your permission to do so? We would like to emphasize that this DVD is a free bonus for our readers, and that they don't have to pay extra for it. Hopefully you'll understand that we have a very tight deadline for the production of this DVD, and that if no objection reaches us by 30/10, we will assume that we can include your freeware on our DVD. Please visit our website www.clickx.be <http://www.clickx.be/> for information on our magazine. You can also take a look at the mediakit from Minoc Business Press, the publisher of our magazine. The pdf is available to download at http://newsletter.minoc.com/sales/pdf/Mediakit_Minoc_2007_Full_UK.pdf - it will give you an idea of our company and portfolio. Hi Andy, I have seen this question before on the list. Was it you or a collegue, I don't know. Anyway: the question you should ask isn't asking for permission. The real question is: "is it even necessary to ask permission for the redistribution of non-commercial, free (as in beer), Free (as in speech), open source, community developed and supported software?" The first thing you should really be doing, is reading the SpamBayes license (or ask a legal expert to read it). Iirc the Python licence applies. Nobody owns Spambayes, so nobody can give you permission. Because you don't need permission. But it is nice of you to let the user community of SpamBayes know where our favorite antispam solution will be distributed. I'll make a mental note to tell my dad to pick up a copy - he's a regular reader of SpamBayes. Will you include an article about SpamBayes or will you just put it on the DVD? If you do include an article, please mention this mailing list as the "official" support channel. -- Amedee Van Gasse amedee@amedee.be amedee@tik.be (just a regular SB user) On Fri, October 26, 2007 11:58, Andy Stevens wrote:
