I gather the main attraction for most folks is all the little gewgaws people can add to their emails. I suppose the Incredimail folks make money by displaying ads to their users, though they do have a version that costs money, so maybe the free version is semi-crippled or something.

I'd never even heard of it until well after the 1.0 release of SpamBayes. Google searches seem to suggest it's used for nefarious purposes. Maybe everyone with a procmail setup should set up a "vacation" message which responds once to anyone who sends them an email via Incredimail alerting them to its potential dangers. If we can confirm that it is a spyware delivery vehicle maybe we should tweak SpamBayes so it refuses to work with it, even if it's technically possible. Just an idle thought from a cranky, sleep-deprived guy on a rainy Wednesday morning in Chicago. Skip
For those who find this of interest... After I installed Incredimail, yesterday, I scanned my system with SpyBot v. 1.4 and Shavlik NetChk Protect and I found nothing other than the usual few cookies from a few common websites. I did find in the EULA that the owners of Incredimail watch everything that you do with Incredimail and pass it on/sell to their affiliated partners. In my opinion, run away from this program...
