So this made me think of a conversation I recently had with a student who is joining Uni and was seeking some advice as she embarks on her CS degree journey....

Her question was where to focus between DS ....

or Machine Learning Engineer,

And ML.  I basically told her that both are different even though some people think its the same thing...

reading Machine Learning books will help you gain the knowledge & skills required in this field.

And to your advice above I shall add that, botj DS or ML enthusiasts must all read about ML  extensively. 

DS folks may not necessarily have to be deep into ML but ML folks ought to be deep if they are to help DS people.
