Possibly n00bish question about ImageTk

I've been trying to make a program which will import a png file and display it inside a frame. It actually works when I just run the code, but if I try to abstract the exact same code into a function, it fails. In the code below, if I just run it, it works. However, if I comment out the lines between "root=Tkinter.Tk()" and "moo(root)" and comment in "moo(root)", it no longer works. Instead of displaying the image, it just displays a gray frame of the correct size. However, I am using Tkinter in one of my shareware programs: http://www.codebykevin.com/packetstream.html (there's a screenshot) This application makes use of some recent advances in Tk development, including Tile (see http://tkinter.unpythonic.net/wiki/TileWrapper for the Python wrapper). It also makes use of some nice Tkinter widgets such as ToolTip (http://tkinter.unpythonic.net/wiki/ToolTip). If you pay attention to some of the specifics of the platform you are targeting (this app is for Mac OS X users) and to other points of application design, such as icons (I find the Tango set to be very polished and well-suited for the Mac; it doesn't scream "Linux"), then I think it's quite possible to make a nice, polished, professional-looking application with Tkinter. I'm curious if anyone has thought about gathering a listing of other Tkinter applications, commercial or otherwise, that are well-designed/attractive. Open a Help window from a Dialog window

Dear all, in my application I would like to have a "Help" button in every dialog that opens the common help window. The problem is that the Dialog window has the "grab_set" activated so when I open the help window, all the events are still redirected to the Dialog. The Help window appears on screen but is inactive. Is there a way to specify that the Help window is for example a separate thread and still handles the events in parallel of the Dialog which has the grab_set for the rest of the program?
