Python 2.7 under Windows: How can we control the position of Tkinter's common dialogs? Here's what we've discovered: * Certain common dialogs always open up relative to their parent window * Certain common dialogs always open up centered on the user's desktop * All common dialogs appear to ignore the optional parent= parameter Questions: * How can we force a dialog to open up relative to its parent window? * How can we force a dialog to open up centered on the user's desktop? ttk.Notebook - how to bind to tab events (tab caption has focus or mouseover)

I'm using the ttk.Notebook widget. What object do I bind to capture events related to specific tabs? I would like to trap when a tab caption gets keyboard focus ('<FocusIn>') and when the mouse pointer is over a specific tab caption ('<Enter>'). I can trap mouse clicks on tabs (<Button-1>, <Button-3>), but I can't find a way to determine what tab a user clicked on in the case of a right click. Thank you, Malcolm

Autocomplete example on wiki

I'm looking for a way to add autocomplete functionality to my Windows based Tkinter applications running under Python 2.7 (32-bit). I've started by using code found on the wiki, but I'm open to other suggestions as well. Ideally I'd like a solution that works with the ttk.Entry widget. Here's the link to the wiki's auto-complete widget that I'm trying to get to work. Will use AutocompleteEntry.set_completion_list((u'test', u'type', u'true', u'tre e', u'time')) Try also the backspace key and the arrow keys. Traceback (most recent call last): File "tkautocomplete.py", line 99, in <module> test(test_list) File "tkautocomplete.py", line 89, in test entry.set_completion_list(test_list) File "tkautocomplete.py", line 35, in set_completion_list self.bind('<KeyRelease>', self.handle_keyrelease) AttributeError: AutocompleteEntry instance has no attribute 'handle_keyrelease' The traceback complains about a missing handle_keyrelease attribute which is present in the sample code. how to get all pixels enclosed by a canvas object

Hi there, I have been struggling to find a way to retrieve all pixel coordinates that are enclosed by an object drawn on a canvas widget. Anyone knows how I can do it? Thanks, Yahui

newbie request for help

Hi everybody, I need some help to understand if tkinter is in fact the right tool to use for me. I intend to write a very bare-bone wiki in python. It should be able to: 1) open a text file 2) display the text file, with links in the form {{image.jpg}} replaced by the image, and [[linkname|linkfile.txt]] replaced by linkname 3) when clicking on linkname, save the current text file and open in its place the file linkfile.txt really, I'm not interested in nothing more. Do you believe it can be easily accomplished with tkinter, or do I need some more complicated widget? Version conflict for Tcl running 2.7.1 on Windows

Hi, I installed Python 2.7.1 on my Windows 7 32-bit version. I get the following error when I run my Tkinter application.
