Python 2.7 under Windows: How can we control the position of Tkinter's common dialogs? Here's what we've discovered: * Certain common dialogs always open up relative to their parent window * Certain common dialogs always open up centered on the user's desktop * All common dialogs appear to ignore the optional parent= parameter Questions: * How can we force a dialog to open up relative to its parent window? * How can we force a dialog to open up centered on the user's desktop? ttk.Notebook - how to bind to tab events (tab caption has focus or mouseover)

I'm using the ttk.Notebook widget. What object do I bind to capture events related to specific tabs? I would like to trap when a tab caption gets keyboard focus ('<FocusIn>') and when the mouse pointer is over a specific tab caption ('<Enter>'). I can trap mouse clicks on tabs (<Button-1>, <Button-3>), but I can't find a way to determine what tab a user clicked on in the case of a right click. Thank you, Malcolm

General Tkinter Assistance Module

Has anybody written a general tkinter assistance module? I'm thinking of a module that: * supplies functions/tools to examine the widget hierarchy from the shell * pretty print information about widgets * wraps event binding and implements a multiplexer, to work around the widget.unbind(funcid=...) bug, * wraps idle binding and .after scheduling, so that you can review bindings (like a task manager), see what's going on, pause/continue (control) idle executions * setup Tk & withdraw in 1 call * return the full path for a widget * standardize access to the text content of Text, Entry, etc.,. * ... * ... (and anything else that makes life with tkinter generally easier) Has anyone created such a thing? If no one has created one, is there a good reason for that?

Tk*Font question

What's the correct way to change the font size? The "Change" button isn't doing what I thought it would. The font changes size, but turns into some proportional font. I'm kinda new (1 day) to using TkFixedFont and its friends. I'm used to ("Monoco", 9) sort of stuff and I'm not sure I understand what's going on. Thanks! Text box reveal directory path?

Is it possible to create a text box that will reveal the full path of a folder/file when that folder/file is dragged and dropped onto the text box? I want it to function like terminal does on a Mac. Thanks for any help, Jason
