I wondered if I can make an HTTP redirection (302) from inside of render_* or data_* method. writing a twisted wrapper in nevow

Hello guys, i have a webserver which needs to run nevow and twisted sites, but i want to use only one port. I was thinking that i probably could just include a twisted site into a nevow site since nevow runs on top of twisted, but i had some difficulties... is there a mktap web --path equivalent for nevow? i was trying to forward a "not nevow" request coming from the twisted website to the corresponding twisted python class by using locatechild and just returning the twisted Resource which implements it... it suprisingly worked for a very simple testsite, but it didntt work if there are any hrefs to static html, picture links etc. does anybody know how i could run twisted and nevow code mixed together? thanks in advance Andy

Apologises for the duplicate post to those who read twisted-python as well... this sprint welcomes web hackers as much as anyone :) Still no final word on exactly where in Sydney this sprint will be held, but it *will* be held and will be on these dates, so I'm posting again to give people time to book flights before they get expensive. I've made a grant application to Linux Australia to fund some of the sprint, but this is not guarenteed to go through. Watch this thread for details: http://lists.linux.org.au/archives/linux-aus/2005-July/msg00216.html We would very much appreciate people letting us know via the wiki if they are definitely or maybe coming so that we have a good idea of numbers when scouring for venues. --- Announcement --- Following the success of the Twisted sprint in Hobart in April, we're having a second sprint. Dates: Friday 19th - Sunday 21st August 2005 Location: Sydney (venue not yet known) As with last time, there will be no attendence charge and sprinters will be taking care of their own accommodation and transport. Once we have a venue we'll have some suggestions. We'll be working on code and documentation hopefully destined for the Twisted Subversion repository. People not really familiar with Twisted are welcome but will probably at least want to have the basics down by the time of the sprint. Excellent question. -- As Step 1 I'd like to cover all that a newbie like me needs to know to set up an efficient, secure, scalable web-server. -- As Step 2 I'd like to cover how to build high-styled web pages through form-based editors -- As Step 3 I'd like to cover how to integrate modular applications into those pages, such things, in my case, as conference registrations -- As Step 4, should we get there, I'd like to explore other aspects of Twisted that can add really cool and fun functionality to my web pages. I can see two approaches, and welcome input from all: 1) Work through current documentation, asking questions about things that confuse me and providing the answers/clarifications as a rewrite of current documentation 2) Develop totally parallel documents Since this would be an on-going project, the next question is how best or organize it. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Some possibilities: 1) Submit my questions to the mail-list. Consolidate and re-write responses. Submit suggested "patches" to current documention. 2) Start a new document on my site or one of the Twisted sites. Write what I understand with questions about what I don't. Invite clarifications through the mail-list. 3) Perhaps there's already a documentation process already in place that I don't know about; e.g. I don't know enough yet to understand the capabilities of Lore nor how to use it. Maybe this is a place to start. In short, I'm just a guy with lots of questions who'd like to contribute what he can to help the community while pursuing his own mastery of Twisted. Hello, I've changed the thread from "Re: Introduction, newbie confusion plus an offer" to "Turkey Questions 1-5" to start the Q&A. Goal: Create the world's simplest web-server My first set of questions are based on "Configuring and Using the Twisted.Web Server in "Twisted.Web Documentation." Inspired by the section "Installing a pre-configured server," I did the following: -- created the directory ~/twisted/www -- created the file ~/twisted/www/myHTML.html <html> <head> <title>flat html file</title> </head> <body> <h1>Hello, World!</h1> </body> </html> -- entered "mktap web --path ~/twisted/www --logfile ~/twisted/www --port 8080" into the command line -- entered "twistd -f web.tap" into command line Results: -- System wrote the file "web.tap" into ~$, my home directory -- System wrote twistd.log into ~/twisted/www -- When I entered "http://localhost:8080/myHTML.html, my browser displayed "Hello, World!" OK, success. Questions: 1) Why did mktap write web.tap to my home directory rather than ~/twisted/www? 2) Why didn't myHTML.html require a "Content-type: text/html" line? 3) How can I see the source for the server created by mktap? 4) Are there preferred practices for creating directories for the document root (for instance, better in user or root), directories for resource modules, site data, css styling, etc.? 5) Are there preferred practices for assigning permissions to files in the above directories? Twisted client to access proxy web server

I've used twisted.web.client.getPage() and downloadPage() to get pages from a web server, but was wondering how to use Twisted to get pages from a proxy web server. Can anyone point me at some example Twisted code for a client to access a proxy-server?

Logging error messages

Hi, I have written an XMLRPC server with Twisted-Web (following http://twistedmatrix.com/projects/web/documentation/examples/xmlrpc.py). I have used a python (2.3) logger to record what is happening, but I am unclear how to get errors that occur within the xmlrpc procedure calls to be logged to the logger. I have had a look at twisted.web.xmlrpc, and I guess I could overwrite _ebRender, or I could do something perhaps with the twisted.python.log module. Can I use a Perl with Twisted?

I have a server written in Perl that needs to be accessed via FTP / HTTP / socket interface. Would I be able to use Twisted? If so do I have to write a python wrapper for the perl process? Or do I have to re-code the server in python? Thanks
