Hi, I'm new to the Twisted-framework, but it looks cool and has a lot of modules I'd like to use in a project. The only problem is that the current docs are a bit thin when it comes to web-development, when developing servlet-like dynamic-content. Does anybody have a tutorial or a reference project I could use to get the hang of it? Hi - Help! I have begun looking at twisted and imediatly became overwelmed, factories, reactors, taps, enterprise, web, spread... There is a lot, but every article I have read on the site seems to rely on the reader understanding what several of these are and how they relate and why they relate etc etc. So I am guessing that twisted can be of use to me, I am embarking on a GTK2 style app, and I see twisted can some how interact with the gtk mainloop. [Twisted-Python] Writing unit test for SOCKS5 client

I am currently writing SOCKS5 client, which in case of success will grow into set of [SOCKS4, SOCKS5, HTTP Proxy Tunnel] clients, but to have my code added to Twisted codebase I was requested to create unit tests for it. The question is what points should I test and how in my units. Is sending RFC1928 (SOCKS5 protocol RFC) compliant messages to Protocol class and checking replies enough? If test case tries to connect to SOCKS server how can I fool it and simulate RFC-compliant socks server? … [View More]

Hey it's my first patch on twisted !!! I have to celebrate this day! When you instanciate a page.Page instance, if you specify a templateFile as parameter, twisted will try to find it in the twisted modules directory, which is not so cool. There's a templateDirectory parameter somewhere in woven, but it is not passed to the view. Is it somehow possible to get to the protocol from the factory? My code is structured this way: I create instances of a Factory (sub)class, these (in their __init__ method), call reactor.connectTCP(address, port, self). The protocol (LineReceiver) subclass hands data it receives to the factory instance via self.factory.handle_data(), which parses the data and calls methods in the 'models' they control.
