Hi all. So, I'm wondering if Twisted can handle /really/ heavy load. I was reading the archives and I couldn't really find many threads on it (actually, just one, and it didn't give me what I wanted). Does anybody out there have any stories to tell about thousands of persistent connections or hundreds of megabytes of throughput? I'm particularly interested in how many connections per second your Twisted application can handle and, obviously, what hardware you are running it on. Thanks, Erik.

Code blocks look much nicer in Lore (it's no contest, really), but I like the usefulness of the original's navigation header--just the blue strip, really. I guess that falls under the heading "Indexes". However, I'm wondering about automatic numbering. It helps to have the numbers there in the HTML, even though you aren't flipping through physical pages to find them. Why? It occurs to me that some of you may not have read http://perl.plover.com/yak/presentation/samples/notes.html which is 'how to give a talk' for Perl conferences, which maps pretty nicely to Python conferences as well. I most certainly wouldn't do everything that this person suggests. Bathroom humour is not going to work for me. [Twisted-Python] Solaris t.i.process.py patch.

On Solaris for some reason whenever I ran my app in the background it would fail (as seen in the attached log, twisted -f poo.tap). But the really weird thing was when I ran it in the foreground (twisted -n -f poo.tap) it did not return this error. I have created a patch that fixes the problem does not really solve it. I will be checking into this some more, and what is wrong with Solaris :) Jeremy

Dear Twisted Users and Developers, I have refactored Lore to get rid of some of the ugliness that it has managed to accumulate. It used to be that there were three Lore scripts: generatelore, html2latex and hlint. The second two were misnamed, and only the first one had nice progress bars. [Twisted-Python] epydoc and Deferreds documentation standard

Any thoughts on what the standard should be for documenting functions that return Deferred? Yes, "@returntype: Deferred" is accurate in one sense, but it's important to know that Deferred will call back with an Identity. Or maybe the callback value of the Deferred is irrelevant, it just happens to let you know the operation is finished. Should we say "@returntype: L{Deferred} L{Foo}" and "@returntype: L{Deferred} None"? -- The moon is waxing crescent, 23.2% illuminated, 4.7 days old.

Hi all, Here's my first cut at rewriting the SMTP client code. The new smtp.sendmail() function is intended to mimic smtplib.sendmail() as close as reasonably possible, to allow for easy migration. Comments appreciated, as always. The patch also adds some minor tweaks to the SMTP server, adds a quick hack to accepttests to let me run only one (or a few) of the tests, and also fixes basic.LineReciever to pass on any returned exceptions (I needed this for the SMTP client). /Anders
