[Twisted-Python] Controlling twisted logging

Hello, Having just spent some time trying to "turn off" twisted logging via log.discardLogs() and/or log.startLogging(log.NullFile()) in a twisted app that initially logs to an actual file, it seems that log.startLogging(log.NullFile()) only works as expected if no previous startLogging call using a valid file object has been made. Otherwise, messages continue to be logged. Is this observation correct, or am I overlooking some way to enable logging to a logfile and subsequently disable it? In my above experiments, log.discardLogs() seemed to have no effect either once valid file logging had been initiated with log.startLogging. [Twisted-Python] Remarks about the TAP to NT service tools (moonfallen sandbox)

Hello, I am trying to bundle a Twisted server based on a .TAC file into an NT service. I finally succeeded with the distutils extension available in moonfallen sandbox, here are the problems I met while doing it: 1- It is said in the readme.txt that win32all is required for the extension. It might be a bit misleading because the ActivePython version I use has it, but failed to generate the distutils package. What is actually needed is a win32all package version suitable for py2exe. And for the py2exe 0.5.4 I use, it means overwriting win32all with the build 206 for instance. 2- The readme says: "You can also use all the setup options that py2exe allows, such as includes and data_files.". I spend some times figuring why the 'typelibs' options I was passing were not taken into account. Again, this is really a distutils issue, but I guess there are others distutils newbies like me around. I was passing the 'typelibs' option to 'py2exe' as said in py2exe wiki, instead of 'twistedservice'. #------- from distutils.core import setup import ntsvc setup( appconfig='my.tac', options = { "twistedservice": {\ "typelibs": [('{F5078F18-C551-11D3-89B9-0000F81FE221}', 0, 4, 0)]} }) #------- works as expected. I am aware the extension is experimental and unsupported but adding a line or two about the pitfalls above (which are purely distutils/py2exe related) into the readme may be useful for newcomers. Besides, I actually need to specify the user account the service will use. I will send you patches if I managed to implement this, but I guess I need to be a bit more knowledgeable about the distutils and win32all service wrapper frameworks. [Twisted-Python] Simple multiplex-relayer with twisted.protocols.smtp?

Good day, hackers. I'm trying to implement a rather simple, localhost-bound mail relay with Twisted. The setup is follows: Internet --- MTA -> multiplexer (*) -> parallel filters -> MTA -> dest. Multiplexer marked with (*) is my doing. Filters are independent systems which accept mail according to destination domain and do their magic according to domain-wide settings. Different domains can have completely separate configs and even backends. I have read and tried to use existing sample from http://twistedmatrix.com/pipermail/twisted-python/2003-October/005885.html and the surrounding thread, but unfortunately have not been so far able to get the system working. Basically the system should be rather trivial: accept everything, regardless of sender or recipient (frontal MTA has already bounced incorrect mails). Check recipient and forward to matching filter set. Use smtp.ESMTP for inbound, smtp.SMTPClient for outbound. However, the code snippet below freaks out. It now accepts unconditionally both sender and recipient but issuing DATA causes an immediate stacktrace with the following last error: File "/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/twisted/protocols/smtp.py", line 625, in do_DATA assert self.delivery exceptions.AssertionError: Tracing the problem, it is apparent that there is no delivery method in use and incidentally, this was apparently the bugging reason in the original (a year old now) problem. Call me stupid but I couldn't fix this by following the example and responses. Version of Twisted in use: 1.3, as packaged for Debian. (In time we'll get 2.0 as well.) Any help will be appreaciated.
