I have been playing with the Twisted framework for a while, and it's really pretty neat! Admittedly, the Interfaces and deffereds threw me for a loop for a while, but I think I'm finally starting to understand some of it. I have already created a simple, stand-alone XMLRPC sever from following the examples in the docs, and now I'm trying to make one that runs over HTTPS. [Twisted-Python] Anyone can tell me what is the advantage of Twisted, compared to JAVA or C AS?

[Twisted-Python] Connection close identifier

Hi folks, I have a server-client system where sometimes the server closes the connection and sometimes client closes connection. In each situation I must do diferent things. Is there a way to know in connectionLost method who closes the connection?? I have already look in the reason atribute, but it seems to the same in both cases. Any help?? Huh? What about the line d.addCallback(gotRootObject)? It's still there, just a little further down, and d is still d, the deferred object returned by getRootObject. Does the call to reactor.run() change the deferred, d? What I really see as a limitation is that it seems that I must connect to all of my servers before starting the reactor, something which is only done once per process. And because of that, I can't interact with any of the servers until I have connected to all of them (because the reactor isn't running before then). For example, why does the client hang if I change the last lines to the following? reactor.run() factory = pb.PBClientFactory() reactor.connectTCP("localhost", 8789, factory) d = factory.getRootObject() d.addCallback(gotRootObject) d.addErrback(remoteCallFailure, "getRootObject") This seems to be an inevitable sequence of calls if I want to be able to connect to a server after having already connected to and intereacted with other servers. Start the reactor, do some stuff, and then at a later point, connect to another server. If I substitute those lines for the original last 6 lines, start the server and start the client...nothing happens. They both just sit there. What have I misunderstood? Hello, I've been trying to build a simple POP3 client using Twisted and have had no luck. I'm looking for something that retrieves the list of headers waiting on the server. It appears that to do that I need to build a POP3 factory based on a domain. How can I build a domain ojbect for a "real" internet domain?
