[Twisted-Python] test_adbapi under twisted 2.0 on win32

I've installed twisted 2.0 and Python 2.4 on my winxp test box and I've also installed the following packages: postgresql 8.0 mysql 4.1 psycopg 1.1.2 mxTools 2.0 (needed by psycopg) mysql-python 1.2.0 The mysql test ran without a problem but I had to modifiy the pgsql test so it would work -- I needed to add host='localhost' to psycopg.connect() call. With that change it ran fine. I'll be working on testing firebird, gadfly and sqlite hopefully tomorrow. [Twisted-Python] Twisted 2.x How To Fix : DeprecationWarning: Deferred.setTimeout is deprecated ?

I have some older code that uses Deferred.setTimeout() what is the appropriate change/replacement for this functionality? I looked at the new code and don't understand the suggested solution to this warning -- If you don't know what you want, you probably need a nap.

Hi I'm just starting with Nevow, and wanted to know if this is possible, and if so get a few leads. I want: 1) to authenticate users (from a form with a "username" and a "password" field) based on data stored in a database. 2) after authentication is performed, the user is sent to a URL based on some of the data from the database. For example, if the database query revealed him to be named "John Smith", he shall be refered to http://appserver.com/JohnDoe. Subsequently, he should remain at this URL, and all links should refer to addresses "below" his personal address. For example, http://appserver.com/JohnDoe/configuration, http://appserver.com/JohnDoe/mail, etc. Thanks in advance, Xif

http://twistedmatrix.com/ TASMANIA (DP) -- Found on the Internet on 2005-03-22 by an anonymous programmer, Twisted 2.0 was obtained by local authorities and kept isolated for public safety and further study. On 2005-03-25, however, nano-probes were released from the package's surface and propagated the software to the public. Version 2.0 is said to have originated from ancient underground ruins somewhere in Australia, but their existence has not yet been verified. Christopher Armstrong, enslaved release archaeologist, was only able to say "Aieeya! Release?? What release? I just found this here tablet under some sand. Ia!" Project lead Glyph Lefkowitz was not available for comment, as he has fled the planet in fear of the repercussions of the software's new release. Record-keeper Mary Gardiner said "It will be interesting to see if the Twisted Sumo distribution collapses into a singularity. I guess there's a potential that Earth will be destroyed." As of this release, radix's soul, which has been included in Twisted since version 0.8.0, has been split off from the main project and given back to him to maintain in a separate sub-project. ---- Twisted 2.0 is a major upgrade, changing many things not only in the code but also in the structure of the project. As of 2.0, Twisted was split up into many sub-projects which you can read about in the Twisted Split FAQ[1]. 2.0 also marks the first release including the migration to the Zope Interface framework as opposed to Twisted's own built-in interface/adapter system. [Twisted-Python] looping in a non-blocking way

Hi everybody. I have an application where I have several polling protocol instances servicing an array of COM ports driven by timers using reactor.callLater with typically 50 millisecond timing constants. I'm also using FTP client protocol instances to concurrently refresh locally cached data from ftp servers. These files may be quite large and during the text parsing routines I end up with blocking loops which are undesirable. Text files my be parsed in a loop with something like: def importFromText(self,data): datalines=data.split("\r\n") for line in datalines: arrin=[] arrin.insert(0,line[0:10]) etc.... For large files the above blocks - starving the other COM port protocols drivers of processing time. I have tried to "yield" to the reactor by calling reactor.iterate() in the above loop trying to do what you would normally accomplish with sleep(0) in a multithreaded application. This solution seemed to partially solve the problem but I'm experiencing intermittent stability problems with my polling protocol drivers that are normally quite robust simply hanging up. I'm now considering rewriting the above loop as a recursive function using reactor.callLater(0,recursiveTexParsingFunction(params)). I'm aware of twisted.flow but the examples given are a bit sparse and obscure and having tried something like http://twistedmatrix.com/documents/current/api/twisted.flow.flow.html - it appears I don't understand how to apply twisted.flow (iterators/coroutines) solve my particular problem. I hope I'm missing something obvious and more elegant since the above possible solutions seems like a lot of rework to solve a very simple problem. Hi Mike, Thanks for the tip. My code is indeed running faster now. However, the reason for the loop was to somehow simulate late responses from a remote database server. I'm guessing I should put the database query code in the closeInABit method you mentioned like this : def closeInABit (): mydb = MySQLdb.Connect(db='mydatabase', host="10.10.10.10", user="myuser", passwd="mypassword") cursor = mydb.cursor() retval = '' cursor = mydb.cursor() cursor.execute("SELECT * FROM Employees WHERE empnum = 'ABCD'") retval = cursor.fetchone() if retval == SomeValue: self.transport.write("Login Ok") else: self.transport.write("Login not Ok") cursor.close() mydb.close() self.transport.loseConnection() Is this ok ?
