Do I have something missing or misconfigured? When I run simpleclient.py I get this: Server said: hello, world! connection lost Connection lost - goodbye! Cory, I did read your readme thoroughly and it only specifies the application of the patch for py2exe version 0.5.4. As I am currently using 0.5.0 (i thought that this fell within the py2exe 0.5+ category but perhaps i am mistaken) i did not apply the patch. Is this what is causing the issue? This is probably a stupid question, but I'm stuck... I need to clean up some objects if (that is, before) reactor.stop is called. [Twisted-Python] Looking for a simple file event driven loop using Twisted

Hello, I'm looking for some example code I can use to build an app from. I need to 'wait' or sleep for new data in a file. Then wake and process the data. The file is a regular file, not a pipe. It is the output of a existing program (i.e., not mine to modify). Needless to say, the API for hugh. I'm need some help finding the right tools. Thanks, Steven Howe

Find attached a Windows specific directory watcher; it's not really what you asked for, but perhaps it's of use. [Twisted-Python] Stable release branch

So I've volunteed to do backports from trunk to the stable (currently 2.0.x) branch for important fixes. "Important" is up for discussion, but here's what I'm thinking: Important means one of: 1) installer brokenness 2) fixes a regression 3) fixes nonfunctional new API Also (and this is not really up for discussion): 1) patch must be small (and correct). Even if it meets one of the above criteria, if it is a large or non-obviously-correct change, I don't want to see it. 2) must not add APIs. 3) if it's been broken for a long time (e.g. in the 1.3 release), it can stand to be broken a little while longer. I'll watch for things I think are appropriate, but, if anyone else wants to point out some svn revisions of changes they think would be appropriate, that's fine too. Now, before people start suggesting that every change be backported (which obviously isn't going to happen), we probably ought to set a goal for the next "real" release (2-3 months?). I expect the 2.0.1 release should go out this week sometime. I think win32 build fixes ought to land first, but that's about all I know of. I'd also love to include the changes to the release scripts which will allow the version to exist in the __version__s in the SVN repository instead of being specified on the command-line by the person releasing. Having consistent versions is important. Someone just needs to write those changes first. However, that doesn't affect the released tarballs at all, so it's not really necessary for before-2.0.1. When you are listening on a socket, you must specify both UDP port number and the group id. (IPv4 groups are specified with an IP address in the "class D" range, 224.foo.foo.foo). If you just listen on port 5353, you're listening for packets directed at one of your node's unicast ip addresses. If you bind it to a specified group (224.0.0.251 is probably the one you want), then you get packets sent to that multicast group, and multiple programs on a single host can listen on the same multicast group.
