Import error reporting in trial has changed in a way which breaks buildbot's understanding of the output. Where errors used to be reported like this: Could not import quotient.test.test_webtest: They're now reported like this: Could not import <module 'quotient' from '/home/buildbot/BuildBot/slave/twisted-trunk/Quotient/quotient/__init__.py'>: This gives less information than the previous format and just looks worse to boot. Can we put it back how it was? Jp

[Twisted-Python] Twisted UDP & makeConnection

Got a bit of a puzzle trying to make a minimal syslog relay out of twisted and am wondering if it's due to an incompatibility between ServerFactory and Twisted's UDP, or if I'm simply missing something obvious. In trying to learn Twisted better, I've taken the finger13.py sample and have changed it to listen to the syslog UDP port and echo messages (code follows this message). One minor variation is that I want to only take UDP messages from hosts in my hostlist (granted UDP can be easily spoofed, but that's another matter). I'm invoking finger13 with twistd, and end up with twistd complaining about the ServerFactory instance not having an attribute "makeConnection.": 2005/09/03 14:06 CDT [-] AttributeError: ServerFactory instance has no attribute 'makeConnection' I've traced this message back to Twisted's udp.py (line 96, _connectToProtocol) which refers to self.protocol, and self.protocol is the protocol passed in when class Port is initialized (self.protocol = proto). I've tried putting makeConnection in the BSDSyslogProtocol class but that doesn't work; actually, I'm surprised it's complaining because the parent twisted DatagramProtocol class has a makeConnection method. Perhaps factories need to be handled differently for UDP? I'm stumped! I've just implemented a tiny module for integrating with PEP 342[1] generators. It's called newdefgen.py and it's available in my sandbox[2]. A bit more information is available on my blog[3]. Of course, it requires CVS Python as that is the only place where PEP 342 is currently implemented, but it'll be in Python 2.5, whenever that's released. Hi in an instance of protocol.basic.lineOnlyReceiver i i read in a file in a string and try to send this string to another instance of protocol.basic.lineOnlyReceiver trough the normal self.transport.write(theString + "\r\n") when doing this i get the error message: IK_IC_TSS 16:13:53:03 connectionLost() for the instance IK_IC_TSS due to reason: [Failure instance: Traceback (failure with no frames): twisted.internet.error.ConnectionLost: Connection to the other side was lost in a non-clean fashion. The file is a normal text file of about 200KB. I googled for similar types of errors, but could not find smth. Is there an explicit string size limit or is it just the fact the the lineOnlyReceiver is not built for that kind of data transfer? Thanks Dani

[Twisted-Python] Py2exe and Oscar Implementation

I am working on a an executable AIM program. However, when i compile with py2exe, i get a runtime error: ImportError: You need to have the Twisted Words package installed to use twisted.protocols.oscar. ... However, I do have that installed. The *.py file works in Twisted. I have tried: import twisted.words from twisted import words but i still get this error message when compiled. Thank you in advance for any help.
