Gentlemen: Thanks for all your responses. I think a restartable reactor is a great idea! In the meantime, here is what I am really trying to do. I have a server running a perspective broker, doing its select loop. I need to access that server from a client that is not in a select loop. The client wants to treat the server as if it were an ordinary rpc -- make the call and get the response synchronously, and go away. Then later on it will come back later and call the server again. Is it possible to use twisted servers with "ordinary" clients? -- perplexed

At the moment I'm looking at 2x512MB Crucial ram from Newegg, which is going to be $115 shipped[1]. The box could seriously use a new case (the current one is missing the front panel and both side doors, and is from an eMachines K6-250) which will be about $30[2]. Another $50 could easily be put to good use. Additionally I could bump up to 2x1GB for $210[3], which would require another $100 donation. Let me prefix this by the fact that I am in college and very very poor at the moment. I have scrapped spare parts together to create a very decent machine (Athlon 64 3000+), it's completely built but I could not find anyone with spare ram.

[Twisted-Python] sshsimpleserver.py on Windows

I have tried to run the conch example sshsimpleserver on Windows, using Putty as the client. All works fine, but I can't see the echo data from the server in Putty. Is this a client's problem? Thanks Manlio Perillo

[Twisted-Python] twistd and passphrase

Hi, I'm using twistd to run my server as a daemon but I couldn't find a way to prompt the user for a passphrase (such passphrase is used by the server to read its SSL key). I tried getpass() but it doesn't work because /dev/stdin is already redirected to /dev/null. How can I ask for a passphrase using twistd? Thank you
