hi there, folks: I'd really like to release 0.7.0 but I would like it to be at least a little bit tested before I do so. Could those of you with CVS trees check everything out and see if it performs as advertised? Deeper bugs than that will have to wait for the next release, but I'd at least like to know if it works for someone other than me. [Twisted-Python] regarding xml elements

Hi, I have an xml file in my application, I have created an element using Example goes like this......... document.createElement("abc") and i appeneded it by using append() method. But how i can reflect this change to my xml file? and one more thing is i want to create element with some other parameters.... like............. <abc m=" " n=" "> </abc> and i have m and n values as strings with me. can anybody help me to create this element and write it to the existing xml file as a child of an existing element? I'm currently in the process of changing from a customized SimpleXMLRPCServer to a twisted XMLRPC server solution and I need to insert the client IP into the attributes passed to the called xmlrpc method. [Twisted-Python] Unable to start twistd service on Ubuntu 10.04 when using pseudo terminal

To me this seems like a very strange problem and I've tried to debug it best I can but I don't know much about many of the components at work. Here's what happened: I've been happily using Capistrano to deploy many twistd services to Ubuntu 9.04 machines. It restarts them via an init.d script based off this template: http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/attachment/ticket/3434/twistdplugin. I'm running a self-installed Twisted 8.2.0 on both systems with some small tweaks to logging. On newer Ubuntu 10.04 machines I've been deploying to the twistd services don't restart properly. There are no errors in the log. The only log lines I'd get were: [-] Log opened. [-] twistd 8.2.0 (/usr/bin/python 2.6.5) starting up. [-] reactor class: twisted.internet.epollreactor.EPollReactor. But they were only failing to restart when run via Capistrano. I realized that the only difference was that Capistrano was using a pseudo terminal when it issued its commands. To recreate the problem without Capistrano I can run: > ssh -t user@host "/etc/init.d/service start" But it works fine when I run: > ssh user@host "/etc/init.d/service start" The 3 log lines I see in the failed case are written by twistd before it forks (clone() syscall) to create the daemon process. The strace dump of twistd when run with and without pseudo terminal were identical. I tried running strace with the -f option to get some info about the child process but it didn't fail in that case since I guess it doesn't actually fork. Running in a pseudo terminal with --nodaemon passed to twistd also works fine. I've tested this with multiple twistd services and am having the same issue with all of them. Any ideas? Did I completely misdiagnose the problem? Has there been some change in this area between Twisted 8.2.0 and 10.x? I'm certainly confused. :) - Garret

Hi All, The attached .py file demonstrates a problem I'm having with a little scheduler I need to maintain. The loop() function is supposed to be a "catch all and report" error handler. [Twisted-Python] Small practice application

Hi everyone, I've decided to write a Tic-Tac-Toe gameserver and client(no biggie, just for getting used to twisted as I'm pretty new to it). The gameserver facilitates the connection between two clients and maintains the game state. I'm having trouble deciding how to create factories and protocols for the server. What I am expecting is a toss to decide who plays first followed by a move from client in a sequential manner. The client sends messages of the format "MOV 2 3" to specify co-ordinates on the board, when prompted by a "MAKE MOVE" from the server. So the server should alternate between connections, read and send data. How do I accomplish something such as this? Thanks, zm

Hello, My current application structure is like this: If something: d = defertoThread(func1,params1) if something2: d = defertoThread(func2, params2) ... d.addCallback(lambda r: transport.write(r) I had designed it this way because, the functions, func1, func2 etc.. were all assumed to be Blocking ones. One of them, internally uses subprocess.Popen() and executes the command and returns the output. All is fine till now. But I had situation, where for the process which is executed via subprocess module, I had to attach a pseudo-terminal. subprocess does not have a mechanism to send a pseudo-terminal to the process. So, I looked into utils.getProcessOutput and found that it does have a mechanism to send a psuedo-terminal to the process. But the problem I am facing is, if I replace the subprocess Call in one of those functions (which are called via deferToThread ), I might need to return the value (in a blocking way) so that it fits in rest of the program well. So, my question is, how can I make utils.getProcessOutput return value instead of a differed.
