Dear All .. Base on a need, I need to build a JSON-RPC to Postgres "bridge". For now, I try to take the ORM way, so I'm looking for ORM "engine" that work well with Twisted and support for Postgres as it's backend. First try I look into SqlAlchemy ... but there is a lot of talk that SqlAlchemy did not work well with Twisted. I found that Twistar have a support for postgres backend. All sample script I found only look like this : for MySQL driver ---Start---- from twisted.enterprise import adbapi from twistar.registry import Registry Registry.DBPOOL = adbapi.ConnectionPool('MySQLdb', user="twistar", passwd="apass", db="twistar") ---Stop---- and I thing for postgres it will be like : ---Start---- from twisted.enterprise import adbapi from twistar.registry import Registry Registry.DBPOOL = adbapi.ConnectionPool('psycopg2', user="twistar", passwd="apass", db="twistar") ---Stop---- Is that right ? If So ... where to put the db server ip address (i.e : my Postgres server is at 192.168.10.232) ? Sincerely -bino-

Hey! So, some of you might remember my async-pep post a while ago. Some people correctly complained there was no code or text. There's some code and quite a bit of text now. In fact, it even has a PEP number (3153)! So I'm soliciting feedback again. There's an issue tracker that ideally describes what needs to be done: https://github.com/lvh/async-pep/issues Specifically, #21: https://github.com/lvh/async-pep/issues/21 (a basic implementation of an async api compatible protocol) and #22: https://github.com/lvh/async-pep/issues/22 (a trivial implementation of a backend using just the stdlib). [Twisted-Python] how to implement a perspective broker client with reconnection

Hi All I plan to use pb to communicate between my processes. The question is how i am able to implement a pb client with some degrees of reliability. What i want is when getRootObject() fail sometimes, it can retry several times automatically. It seems docs doesn't mention this problem and I didn't find any hint from source code. Thanks gelin yan

[Twisted-Python] FilesystemLock/DeferredFilesystemLock with NFS and multiple processes

Hi, I have a scenario in which I need to use a lock file to prevent multiple processes to run on the same directory concurrently. The processes could run on the same machine or on different machine, with a NFS filesystem. If I understand correctly FilesystemLock works fine with different processes on the same machine, but since it uses a symlink to PIDs to identify the lock owner, it is not guaranteed to be safe on NFS. Is this the only issue with this scenario? In this case I guess it could be fixed by adding a machine identifier (hostname or some hash) to the name. Also, is there any possible concurrency problem with NFS atomicity? Thanks, Alberto

Hi, basically, $subj. I really like the DeferredStore concept introduced in storm/twisted-integration, but it seems that that branch is lagging behind on merging (for 2 years now). Any inside info, perhaps? thanks, Ilja

Looking at the Project Jobs list for twisted I notice that there is a request for someone to handle Ticket Spam. [Twisted-Python] server issues; SVN in read-only, but Trac isn't

Hello from the Twisted server operations team, The Twisted SVN server has run into some minor unexpected trouble during routine system maintenance. For now, SVN is in read-only mode. However, this shouldn't affect Trac, so feel free to keep doing reviews and submitting patches in the meanwhile. Hopefully many of you are working from DVCS mirrors and will hardly notice the interruption :-). We will send another notice as soon as things are back to normal. -glyph

[Twisted-Python] Ways to register stuff only done for backwards compatibility

Hi, In doing twisted.positioning I find my self writing a bunch of code in ways I would ordinarily write it differently, because we have to support 2.4 still (when is that going away? Isn't the most recent RHEL 2.6 already?). Is there some way to register that so that as soon as we stop supporting 2.4, we can make a lot of code a lot prettier? For certain functions such as any/all, perhaps a twisted.python._backports (with the explicit mention that code in backports will go away as soon as the version it's built to work around is no longer supported). That way, as soon as you support 2.5 (which has any/all), you just remove it from _backports, see which tests break, remove the imports, run tests again, commit. Woo! Of course, _backports is obviously not a solution for everything, since not every language feature can be fixed by defining a class or a function somewhere. cheers lvh
