synapse's manhole is SSH-based :)
(dunno why, given it uses hardcoded auth, so all security depends on the manhole port being locked down, but still)
I actually remembered this the second I sent that email :-D. My brain jumped from "hardcoded username and password" to Telnet somehow :-p. -- Evilham
