Personally I'd say that @type is effectively deprecated by the fact that pydoctor supports annotations now. (In fact I kind of hope Pydoctor eventually grows support for Annotated so you can eventually do def query(name: Doc[str, "The name of the thing to query"]) -> Doc[str, "The value associated with C{name}"]:, and avoid the possibility of misspelling parameter names, and get all the documentation inline.)
