On behalf of the Twisted contributors, I announce the release of Twisted 23.8.0 This is a release that adds support for Python 3.12 This is also the last release with support for Python 3.7 The release and NEWS file is available for review at https://github.com/twisted/twisted/blob/stable/NEWS.rst Release documentation is available at https://docs.twisted.org/en/stable/ Wheels for the release candidate are available on PyPI https://pypi.org/project/Twisted/23.8.0/ python -m pip install Twisted==23.8.0 Many thanks to everyone who had a part in Twisted development, the supporters of the Twisted project, the developers, and all the people testing and building great things with Twisted! I would like to use this opportunity and thank https://thinkst.com/ for the extraordinary continuous financial support since 2018. Thank you for kicking off yet another successful release, Adi!
This is a release that adds support for Python 3.12 This is also the last release with support for Python 3.7
It occurs to me that we may need a process for updating https://twisted.org/, since the website currently contains the phrase "It supports CPython 3.6+ and PyPy3. Twisted 21.2.0 was the last version with Python 3.5 support. Twisted 20.3.0 was the last version with Python 2.7 and PyPy2 support."
I am super excited about our new fiscal sponsorship from the PSF, and really grateful for all their help, particularly from Phyllis, with the transfer. We haven't posted a lot about it because we're still working on the details but I hope we'll have more for y'all soon. If you'd like to take a role in governance (i.e.: "figuring out how to spend Twisted's money to make Twisted better") feel free to speak up! -g
