[Twisted-Python] Boston Twisted Sprint

Let's try this again: The proposal was for a sprint in Boston from September 28-October 2. That starts a week from today. At this point: 1. There will be no funding for transportation/lodging for out of town folks 2. The location would be classrooms at MIT unless someone has an alternative 3. There will be no funding for food or snacks or drinks or anything like that Facts about using MIT classrooms as a Sprint location: 1. Room reservations would be for after school hours, aka after 5pm, for weekdays. 2. Guests register their MAC address and have 14 days of wireless. It's plausible that some of you visit MIT and have used up your free wireless. I don't have a solution for that besides "find a different computer to register and use". 3. The doors on campus are mostly locked at night and I won't be there to let you in all the time. Some special doors remain unlocked. Bottom line: you can get it and get to the rooms but it may be quite circuitous. I'm cool with that if you're cool with that. Are you cool with that? Please send me an e-mail off-list with: 1. if you'd attend, and if so which days 2. regardless of 1, if you believe that the sprint should be delayed until funding/better location/more notice/whatever has a chance to happen -jesstess

I'm sorry, maybe I missed something. The last message I have on this list, about this event, is from July 29th wherein I indicated my possible Thurs->Sun availability. Were there other subsequent messages about this event that I missed? My search for "sprint" in my Twisted List e-mail folder only pulls up the message from the 29th, then yours from 10:09PM today; nothing in between. Thanks, S P.S. I have comments/issues/etc. about the rest of the event, but let's just handle one thing at a time i.e. messages about the event between 2009-07-29 -> present. s

To my knowledge you aren't missing e-mails. I asked jml last week about the Sprint since I wanted to know if it was still happening and he indicated that he was unable to organize the Sprint at this time. I then volunteered to try and get something concrete happening, be it an on-time Sprint or be it a delayed Sprint. A location and funding hadn't been secured by the time I asked last week so that's why there aren't really any options for anything. -jesstess On Sun, Sep 20, 2009 at 10:59 PM, Steve Steiner (listsin) < listsin@integrateddevcorp.com> wrote:

1. if you'd attend, and if so which days
I expect that I will be able to attend Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Unfortunately Things Are Happening with alarming regularity for me right now, so I may be able to attend more days or fewer; but I should make it for at least two of those three.
2. regardless of 1, if you believe that the sprint should be delayed until
funding/better location/more notice/whatever has a chance to happen
We can always have another sprint later.
Agreed!

This sounds like plenty of support for a Sprint! People have mostly expressed an ability to attend Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so it seems reasonable to start with that as the Sprint window and we can reevaluate as we go alone. That said, I have room reservations through Sunday so people should feel free to use those spaces. Room Details for Monday-Wednesday, 5pm-midnight: -The room number is 4-159, so it's in building 4 on the first floor. Attached is a poorly gimped zoomed-in view of main campus with some annotation on how to get to the room. -Details on how to get to MIT in general as well as a complete map and other information can be found here: http://whereis.mit.edu/ -The way that will always work to get to 4-159 is to follow the arrow on the attached map: go in through "Lobby 7" on Massachusetts Ave. It's the big entrance with huge columns shortly before you hit the Charles River. Then just go down the hallway until you turn right at a sign for building 4. -If you take the T in and get off at the Kendall T stop on the Red Line, it would be annoying to go all the way to Massachusetts Ave. just to have to loop back through the Lobby 7 route. I'd recommend getting there before the doors lock (~5pm), pinging someone you know is already there, or waiting for a stranger to let you in around buildings 56 and 66. -I'll put up signs to help guide people and have a sign on the room door. -There will also be a room reservation confirmation attached to the back of the door, should anyone ask for one and should I not be there to talk to them. I will be at the room and on #twisted at 5pm on Monday. If this information is unclear / incomplete or if you have special needs that need accommodating please don't hesitate to reply on-list or to me. -Jessica On Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 12:45 PM, Christopher Armstrong < radix@twistedmatrix.com> wrote:
