[Twisted-Python] Announcing: Minions of Mirth - Open Source RPG using Twisted

Hello!!!! My name is Josh Ritter and I am a veteran game programmer working on an Open Source RPG, called "Minions of Mirth". The engine is also Open Source and features some really cool technology. The game currently runs on Windows and OSX. Basically, "Minions of Mirth" is a 3d MUD... We are using Twisted for our live patching system, remote method calls and data cache (using spread), and distributed servers. We are also using Zope3 and the two compliment each other nicely... Please see the "Barrage o' Links" below for an 8 minute video and ***playable*** demo/test for Windows and OSX. We are very interested in collaborating with others on Open Source games and technology... I hope you find this an interesting use of Twisted!!!! this is great news, especially because there are very few open source games. i see that the game is for windows and osx only and i'd like to see it on linux too. where can i download the source code to look at how difficult would be porting it to my favourite os? (or there was a mistake and only the engine is really open source?) greetings, federico

The game and engine are both Open Source... http://sourceforge.net/projects/prairieengine The engine is currently using a heavily modified QuakeII, as evidenced by the video :) We'll be porting to the Quake3Arena engine which will be under the GPL within the next month. Q3A has a very solid linux platform layer... We cannot officially support Linux, though if someone wanted to maintain a Linux port we would welcome this... I'd rather not clutter the Twisted mailing list with discussion about the game or engine that isn't directly related to Twisted... please use our forums (http://www.prairiegames.com/phpBB2) or email me directly :) Thanks, -Josh Ritter Technical Director http://www.prairiegames.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Federico Di Gregorio" <fog@initd.org> To: "Twisted general discussion" <twisted-python@twistedmatrix.com> Sent: Friday, November 19, 2004 3:59 PM Subject: Re: [Twisted-Python] Announcing: Minions of Mirth - Open SourceRPG using Twisted
