[Twisted-Python] Lore vs. latex2html: Fight to the Finish

Dear Twisted developers, I have started converting Thinking Like a Computer Scientist in Python to Lore, to try and see what Lore is missing. It has been a most education experience. The two prime things Lore is currently missing for lossless conversion (of the specific chapter I tested) are: * EPS images support * Indexing support However, beyond that, I am interested to know which looks better: latex2html: http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/thinkCSpy/chap01.htm Lore: http://twistedmatrix.com/users/moshez/loreprop/ (The Lore is using the Twisted documentation stylesheet.) Any comments would be nice. Comments which come with a patch to the stylesheet will be doubly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Moshe Zadka -- Moshe Zadka -- http://moshez.org/ Buffy: I don't like you hanging out with someone that... short. Riley: Yeah, a lot of young people nowadays are experimenting with shortness.

I assume `Indexing support' implies the navigation stuff at the top/bottom of the latex2html version?

Also, I know this is an old argument, but I do prefer bold for emphasis rather than italics: bold stands out much more when you're skimming through. I like it when I can find the initial description/definition of a term within a particular area of a paper by skimming over all of the bold terms. -- Twisted | Christopher Armstrong: International Man of Twistery Radix | Release Manager, Twisted Project ---------+ http://twistedmatrix.com/users/radix.twistd/

such terms should probably be marked <dfn>, not <em>. dfn "indicates that this is the defining instance of the enclosed term." And yes, it makes sense to me to make dfn bold in the stylesheet. -- The moon is waxing gibbous, 85.3% illuminated, 11.1 days old.

Dear Twisted developers,
I am not a developer, so I'm not sure if I may reply! :-)
However, beyond that, I am interested to know which looks better:
latex2html: http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/thinkCSpy/chap01.htm Lore: http://twistedmatrix.com/users/moshez/loreprop/ (The Lore is using the Twisted documentation stylesheet.)
For my own taste, the first (latex2html) is a bit more legible, because it has less distracting boxes, and the diagrams are more neat. The navigation bars at the beginning and the end give a bit of decoration, outside the text, which is OK. We should stay aware that "good looking" is only of secondary value for documentation, legibility always goes before art.
Any comments would be nice. Comments which come with a patch to the stylesheet will be doubly appreciated.
By saying so, you reveal a prejudice towards the second (Lore). :-) -- François Pinard http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~pinard
