[Twisted-Python] Twisted 10.0.0 released
On behalf of Twisted Matrix Laboratories, I am honored to announce the release of Twisted 10.0. Highlights include: * Improved documentation, including "Twisted Web in 60 seconds" * Faster Perspective Broker applications * A new Windows installer that ships without zope.interface * Twisted no longer supports Python 2.3 * Over one hundred closed tickets For more information, see the NEWS file. It's stable, backwards compatible, well tested and in every way an improvement. Download it now from: http://tmrc.mit.edu/mirror/twisted/Twisted/10.0/Twisted-10.0.0.tar.bz2 or http://tmrc.mit.edu/mirror/twisted/Twisted/10.0/Twisted-10.0.0.win32-py2.5.m... Many thanks to Jean-Paul Calderone and Chris Armstrong, whose work on release automation tools and answers to numerous questions made this possible. Thanks also to the supporters of the Twisted Software Foundation and to the many contributors for this release. jml

Interesting, why? Is zope.interface not used/required anymore? If so, why is it shipping in the non-windows version? FWIW, zope.interface: - has binaries available for windows - has pure python fall-backs for when no binaries are available, regardless of platform (ie: GAE) cheers, Chris -- Simplistix - Content Management, Batch Processing & Python Consulting - http://www.simplistix.co.uk

Interesting, why?
The installer is now built using bdist_msi. If there's a way to bundle zope.interface in the MSI, then this might be interesting to pursue. Also, I'm pretty sure that the 9.0 Windows installer _also_ didn't include zope.interface. So this isn't a new situation with 10.0.

It doesn't ship in any of the packages for other platforms, either (nor do any of our other external dependencies). Jean-Paul

Ah, okay, I guess my question becomes: why was it ever bundles in the windows distribution then? Chris -- Simplistix - Content Management, Batch Processing & Python Consulting - http://www.simplistix.co.uk

Because Zope didn't provide a binary version of zope.interface for Windows at that time, and zope.interface has a C extension. -- Thomas

Really? To my knowledge, Zope has provided windows binaries for zope.interface prettymuch since it came into existence... (I know, I'm sure I used to compile them for a time ;-) ) Chris -- Simplistix - Content Management, Batch Processing & Python Consulting - http://www.simplistix.co.uk
