[Twisted-Python] Boston Area Mini-Sprint
Apologies in advance for the short notice, but I'm planning to host a Boston area Twisted mini-sprint this weekend on Sunday, January 16th. Space is fairly limited (hence the mini- prefix), but if you're on twisted-python and would be interested in the details of this and/or future Boston area sprints, let me know, and I'll add you to the invitation. Damn, I'm going to be in Cambridge for 10 weeks from Wednesday 19th onwards (usually based here in the UK). So I miss out by 3 days! I'd really like to meet up with any Twisted folk when I arrive though. Is anyone Boston-based up for a drink some time after the 19th? We should really be having sprints more than once every 10 weeks, so please motivate us to do another one while you're in town :). I'd definitely love to meet up, perhaps more than once, and I'm sure some other folks would love to meet one of our success stories. Feel free to contact me personally so we can work out the details.

It would take me at least 3 minutes to walk to Cambridge (though probably the wrong end of Cambridge), so I'm available. However, I still feel like a relative newbie, so I don't know how useful I would be. We can always use more contributors. You can help with documentation, or with small bugs, or any number of other things. If you're concerned about being productive and useful at the sprint, the main thing you can do is not to learn tons of stuff about Twisted, but to pick a couple of tickets which interest you beforehand and familiarize yourself with the development process (<http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/wiki/TwistedDevelopment> and <http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/wiki/ReviewProcess>) so that you can jump right in. The experienced folks at the sprint are generally very happy to help.

Hi John, I'm not even sure I'd call myself a fully qualified newbie, but I've still managed to help close a few tickets... The nice thing about Sprints is that you can just sit down next to someone who knows what they're doing (usually not me, BTW) and help them get something productive done. (Or just learn more for next time.) There are also quite a few jobs involving documentation, the website, and various servers and build systems that are more tedious and annoying than anything else... and tedious and annoying is always better with free pizza! Anyway, you should be receiving an invitation shortly... And if it says anything about "Max Guests Reached", feel free to show up anyway (there's generally always more room for pair programming / hanging out and meeting people, even if all the good laptop spots are taken.) - Dave
