New issue 872: Data Collection object requires a "center" to be specified https://bitbucket.org/yt_analysis/yt/issue/872/data-collection-object-requi… Cameron Hummels: Because a data collection object is a subclass of YTSelectionContainer3D it requires a "center" to be passed, even though a center doesn't make any sense in the context of a collection of arbitrary data objects. We should remove this requirement.

I think we should change the API to only be left corner and right corner, even if it means providing a wrapper around the existing object constructor.

As I'm writing up the objects documentation, I realize that we have some weirdness with our "region" object in that we require it to have a specified center, even though the only things which are really needed to specify a 3D box are the left corner and right corner. bulk velocity cookbook recipe correct ?

One thing I was wondering is whether we should have a gallery of thumbnails of the output from the various scripts in the docs that users can click on to see the recipe. In my experience, for matplotlib, this is the most useful part of the documentation -- I go to the gallery ( http://matplotlib.org/gallery.html) find something that looks like it does what I am trying to do, and then click on it to find out how to do that.
