yt workshop 2025 open for registration

Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce that the summer 2025 yt workshop is now open for registration! The workshop will be July 15-18, 2025 at the Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics at the University of Edinburgh, UK. Registration will be open from today through May 17. There is no registration fee, but participation will be limited to 35 people. *To register, please visit the workshop webpage:* https://indico.ph.ed.ac.uk/event/346/ yt <https://yt-project.org/> is a community-driven Python package for analyzing and visualizing complex spatial data. Since 2007, the yt package has expanded from supporting just a single astrophysical simulation data format to more than three dozen formats across several domains, including astronomy, seismology, nuclear engineering, molecular dynamics, oceanography, and satellite imaging. This 4-day workshop will bring together people from all levels of experience with yt. We will begin with at least a day of tutorials for new users, followed by time devoted to yt's extension packages with opportunities for short presentations from participants. The final two days of the meeting will focus on development, beginning with activities designed for users interested in contributing to yt or getting involved in scientific software development. We will then move into breakout groups to work together on development goals. There will be opportunities for researchers with data not yet supported by yt to work with experienced developers to implement yt support. A preliminary schedule of activities is below. This will be updated following participant preferences. *Tuesday, 15 July* - introductory and intermediate tutorials *Wednesday, 16 July* - advanced and domain-specific tutorials - yt extension packages *Thursday, 17 July* - lightning talks - spotlight on non-astro applications - introduction to yt development - workshop dinner *Friday, 18 July* - development activities and breakout sessions *Important Dates:* - March 25, 2025 - registration opens - May 17, 2025 - registration closes - July 15, 2025 - workshop begins - July 18, 2025 - workshop ends If you have any questions, please contact Britton Smith <britton.smith@ed.ac.uk>.
