Hi all, Matt has submitted a proposal for a yt sprint at the Scipy conference. I think the proposal is pretty much pro forma - there will almost certainly be a yt sprint. The sprints will be July 11th and 12th. I'm planning on being there for both days but will have to leave to catch a plane the afternoon of July 12th. Please reply to this thread if you're interested in participating. Even if you're not going to be at the scipy conference this year, remote participation will certainly be doable. -Nathan
Hi Nathan, I am going to SciPy, but not for the sprint days. Nevertheless I hope to atleast get the chance to meet up with you and talk about yt. My original motivation for the conference is to learn more about how people are training students in computation and python in particular. Hope to see you there, Mike On Fri, Jun 20, 2014 at 3:12 PM, Nathan Goldbaum <nathan12343@gmail.com> wrote:

Yes! And it will be a great opportunity both for in-person communication as well as building connections to other communities.

I'll probably be flying out around 5:15 on Saturday (the 12th) as well. I think we're going to have a bunch of people attending SciPy this year. Nathan's leading a talk on yt, I'm giving one on ZeroPy, John is giving one on XRay simulated observations, and there's also going to be a WSSSPE workshop on Thursday afternoon about developing sustainable scientific software. Looks like a great week coming up!

I had originally hoped to have GDF being a part of this sprint, but it appears that it is possible that 3.0 will not be finished by then--so that would then be the focus. Or am I wrong? On Jun 20, 2014, at 3:59 PM, Aaron Smith <asmith@astro.as.utexas.edu> wrote:

If the yt-3.0 release hasn't happened by then that's certainly where I'll be focusing my efforts. That said, if you want to work on GDF no one will be forcing or expecting you to work on 3.0 issues. On Sunday, June 22, 2014, John ZuHone <jzuhone@gmail.com> wrote:

The union of the documentation and yt-3.0 boards looks pretty complete to my eye. https://trello.com/b/Y5XV4Hod/yt-3-0 https://trello.com/b/HCLLFxEE/documentation All the red cards are blockers. I think some sort of discussion before the sprint would be a good idea, particularly to hammer out what to do about volume rendering and analysis modules, which right now need the most work. Docs are also a big blocker but I think we have a pretty good idea what needs to happen there. It would also be nice if we could resolve the issues with particle fields in Enzo - something I might try my hand at doing in the next week or so if no one else gets around to doing that.
