Should we remove plot collection before 3.0?

Hi all, I'm inclined to remove plot collection before yt 3.0 is released. PhasePlot and ProfilePlot both work in 2.6, and we've actually seen quite a bit of migration to them. If there's enough support, I'll bring this to a YTEP and we can hash it out there, but before I went to that point I figured I'd look for a handful of +1's here. -Matt

Okay, enough voting, here's the YTEP PR: https://bitbucket.org/yt_analysis/ytep/pull-request/35/adding-ytep-0020-remo... Please comment or approve there. I suspect we will approve this quite easily. -Matt On Tue, Mar 18, 2014 at 10:04 AM, Brian O'Shea <bwoshea@gmail.com> wrote:

+0.5 This means I'll have to do some scripts update. We should remove it from the docs as well or new comers might start asking questions about it. From G.S. On Tue, Mar 18, 2014 at 7:27 AM, Matthew Turk <matthewturk@gmail.com> wrote:

Most or even *all* of the docs have removed plot collection, so I think we're getting there on that front. And, despite my poorly worded subject, I am proposing we remove it from *3.0* before releasing 3.0. So if you continue to use the 2.X branch, which will not really go away for some time, you should be okay. But yes, I think education is a huge component of this -- and something we need to ensure we address across the board. -Matt

"Most or even *all* of the docs have removed plot collection" Yeah I noticed it gone from the cookbooks etc, but when I did a search for 'plotcollection' I can still find the API references etc, but that's probably because the doc is 2.X not 3.0.
