Hi All, I'm working with the changeset in the PR: https://bitbucket.org/yt_analysis/yt/pull-request/1193/fix-bug-with-mismatc… that has allowed gadget data sets to be visualized using volume rendering. The following script: http://paste.yt-project.org/show/5113/ (written with a good bit of help by Matt) produces the following image ('junk.png' in the script): http://i.imgur.com/ro7fWZ0.png note, the script relies on a function elsewhere (ds_zoom) that finds the parttype0 density peak, and cuts out a region around it (for use with cosmological data sets in this case). My issue is that I'd like to use the nice camera rotation features, which you can see I've included at the bottom of the script taken from the yt docs. The rotated images are all super dark though: 2 of them can be found here: http://i.imgur.com/tbsbkti.png http://i.imgur.com/SHY0KjJ.png I've tried crankng down the clip_level by a factor up to 1e3 and don't see much change. Is this a transfer function issue? Or are there other keywords that I might try? (I can't seem to find much else in the help docs for cam.rotation). Finally, as a side question, is there an obvious way to make a color bar for this sort of VR image? The only description of this I could find (though maybe missed it?) in the docs was associated with off-axis projections, which didn't work in this case. Thanks for any thoughts on this! desika

Potential problem with the field_parameters dictionary in SlicePlot (and certainly others)

Hi, I’ve been trying to specify by hand the ‘center’ entry of the dictionary field_parameters to a SlicePlot so that the derived field can make use of another center to compute, e.g., cylindrical coordinates. After tracking why my specified center had no effect, I noticed that the function _set_center is called when a SlicePlot is created, and this function erases any ‘center’ entry in the field_parameters dictionary, putting there the ‘center’ keyword specified as an argument to SlicePlot. It appears to me this should not be the normal behaviour, but I may be misunderstanding something. I would naively suggest not to update the ‘field_parameters’ dictionary in the _set_center function, though I’m not completely sure? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestion about this issue! yt 3.0 in MacPorts

Hi everyone, For anyone using MacPorts to manage their Python installation, I have updated the yt port to the latest 3.0 release. You should be able to see it by running: $ sudo port selfupdate $ port search py27-yt py27-yt @3.0_1 (python, science) Astrophysical simulation Analysis and Viz You can then install it with: $ sudo port install py27-yt Please let me know if you run into any issues with this port. cannot use Reason

Hi guys, sorry, I am having trouble starting Reason. I have updated yt to the current tip: --- Version = 3.1-dev Changeset = 2c3d2e84074a (yt) tip --- but I get the following: ------------------------------------------ [ 0:55:33] obiwan:$ yt reason … yt: error: argument subcommands: invalid choice: 'reason' (choose from 'help', 'bugreport', 'hub_register', 'hub_submit', 'instinfo', 'version', 'load', 'mapserver', 'pastebin', 'pastebin_grab', 'upload_notebook', 'plot', 'rpdb', 'notebook', 'stats', 'update', 'upload_image') ------------------------------------------ Any idea of what is going on?
