volume rendering question

Hi everyone, I was wondering if it's possible to do volume renderings of data that can't be directly read into yt yet as part of a dataset (i.e. using "load") - for example, the radiation intensity in a Ramses-RT simulation. If I have a ascii file with a 3d array of this field (either fixed resolution or AMR), will I be able to simply use that as the data source, or would I need to do something to it first? code support for ZEUS-MP 2

Hello, I'm a ZEUS-MP 2 user, and I was wondering if is it possible to add the support to ZEUS-MP 2 data, which are stored in HDF5 files. The data are nothing special or fancy, forget about particles or multiple levels of refinement. The code has a fixed grid in spherical coordinates, and all my simulations are axially symmetric, i.e. all the variables depends only on the spherical radius and co-latitude. It would be great to benefits of all the yt features! Thanks in advance, Andrea Negri

disk/cylinder definition

Hi, I am trying to understand the definition of the cylinder/disk. The description provided here http://yt-project.org/doc/reference/api/generated/yt.data_objects.selection… <http://yt-project.org/doc/reference/api/generated/yt.data_objects.selection…> states that “height" is “the distance from the midplane of the cylinder to the top and bottom planes.” So does that mean that a cylinder that is 1 meter high/tall (height measured as the distance from top to bottom planes/bases) should have a height = 0.5 meter in a yt script? In other words, is the height measured from the geometrical center of the cylinder to one of its bases along the symmetry axis of the cylinder, or is the height measured from the center of one base to the center of the other? Also, is “center” the coordinate of the geometrical center of the cylinder or the coordinate of the center of one of the cylinder bases? Thanks, Mateusz

Mass of Metals in Disk, Halo, Gas, and Stars

Hello, I’m trying to find the total mass of metals in the disk, halo, gas, and stars of a given galaxy with yt 3.2.2, but I’m not exactly sure how to do that. What I’ve done so far is sum the metals in each of these areas and then divide the total mass by that (I’ve isolated each location I do this with a series of ####### above and below: http://paste.yt-project.org/show/6086/). How do I, instead, sum up the mass of the metals?
