Hi Alex,

I think the problem is that you are sampling a very low refinement level (1) which does not have 256 cells spanning the domain. That FLASH dataset begins with one top-level grid (at refinement level 0 in yt notation, which is refinement level 1 in FLASH notation) which is 16 cells on a side, so at refinement level one you have only 32 cells on a side. 

So I take it that you wanted 256 cells from the domain_left_edge, but probably the cell size you were thinking of was the maximum refinement level?
