Looks like you are slicing a big object! I think the way you can get around this would be to set the bounds more closely, using the ds.r object, where you specify left and right edges (in unit tuples) for the edges you want to have as your x and y and using the coordinate for the axis along which you want to slice. Alternately, you can generate a fixed resolution box using ds.r and then slice that. Let us know if that helps!
