Re: [yt-users] loading halo off disk problem
Geoffrey, I think we've stumbled upon a h5py bug! Without getting into gritty details, the LoadHaloes() code actually opens, closes, and then re-opens the h5 file when data is read in. For some reason, the re-open wasn't working, and the file was still marked as closed, and therefore trying read data from it wasn't working. I've added a band-aid of sorts which seems to fix the issue. Go ahead and update and let me know if you continue to have problems. (For those of you who get this twice, sorry! I sent the reply to the wrong yt list the first time.) -- Stephen Skory s@skory.us http://stephenskory.com/ 510.621.3687 (google voice)
The patch works! Thanks :-) Here's a stupid question, when I update YT, I can yt instinfo -u or do hg pull then update manually or just run the install script again If I do either one of those above, do I still have to re-install stuff installed by hand i.e. Forthon, mpi4py etc? From G.S.

Hi Geoffrey,
On Mon, Apr 11, 2011 at 8:09 PM,
The patch works! Thanks :-)
Here's a stupid question, when I update YT, I can yt instinfo -u or do hg pull then update manually or just run the install script again

The first two will only touch yt. The last one, it's not clear to me what you mean. If you mean simply *running* the script again, it will not destroy any old information, so you need not install any old dependencies. If you mean removing an existing installation and re-running it, then yes, you have to, but it will do it for you. -Matt
