Hi all, I thought this question was asked before but I couldn't find a quick answer on the archive. Is there a package I need to install or some settings to tweak to get the functionality of pressing "up arrow" to cycle though history of commands, I'm on OS X 10.6.7? Should I try what's described at: http://pypi.python.org/pypi/readline Or is there an easier way? (Or did I do something wrong during install so it should be working already?). Right now I'm just copying and pasting from a text editor when I use iyt, so I'd like to save some copy/paste time. From G.S.
Hi Geoffrey, You should be able to do: pip install readline to get it installed on OSX. The reason, to my recollection (which may be incorrect) that this is tricky is that OSX is a bit more difficult to link against readline libraries. This is by-design by the readline implementors and maintainers, however, because readline has been licensed under the GPL. I'm not going to license advocate except to note that readline comes by default with most Linux distributions. ;-) -Matt On Mon, Apr 4, 2011 at 6:13 PM, <gso@physics.ucsd.edu> wrote:

Worked perfectly, thanks! From G.S.
