Hi all, I thought this question was asked before but I couldn't find a quick answer on the archive. Is there a package I need to install or some settings to tweak to get the functionality of pressing "up arrow" to cycle though history of commands, I'm on OS X 10.6.7? Should I try what's described at: http://pypi.python.org/pypi/readline Or is there an easier way? (Or did I do something wrong during install so it should be working already?). Right now I'm just copying and pasting from a text editor when I use iyt, so I'd like to save some copy/paste time. From G.S.
Hi Geoffrey, You should be able to do: pip install readline to get it installed on OSX. The reason, to my recollection (which may be incorrect) that this is tricky is that OSX is a bit more difficult to link against readline libraries. This is by-design by the readline implementors and maintainers, however, because readline has been licensed under the GPL.
