ezmlm to mailman

Does anyone have any tips or general advice in converting a bunch of ezmlm (ezmlm/idx) mailing lists to mailman lists? I don't mind writing a few scripts to make things easier, but if there's a quick way to convert my existing archives and subscription lists (well, that second was is easy), I'd be glad to hear it. -- Jon Parise (jon(a)csh.rit.edu) . migration from ezmlm

Has anyone taken some notes on converting from qmail/ezmlm to mailman? If so, I'd like to hear from you. My biggest concern is handling the listname-subscribe and listname-unsubscribe addresses so I can avoid having to completely reeducate a large subscriber base. With ezmlm, a user can send an empty message to listname-subscribe to be added to a list, or listname-unsubscribe to be removed. From reading the mailman docs, it seems like this feature is missing. If I assume incorrectly, or if anyone has hacked it together, I'd like to hear from you. --Paul

Procmail is your friend. :-) As of right now Mailman doesn't have that built in, but it's easy enough to hack something on top. Just make some aliases for listname-subscribe/unsubscribe, and have procmail re-write those messages to send a message to listname-request with subscribe <email> in the message (I can't remember if it's subject or body, maybe it doesn't matter). I have a tool I cooked up in PERL to convert a Maildir-like format (some proprietary webmail format akin to maildir) to mailbox; there are probably other tools out there but if you're stuck I'd be happy to send it on to you, you would be able to alter it easily if you needed to cover anything unusual about date formats and so on. -- Simon White. i am using ezmlm i cannot find an easy way to create a web-based searchable/browsable archive of messages. can mailman do this? if so, is there a way to migrate my ezmlm messages over to mailman? thanks tim

ezmlm to mailman

Just in the process of moving some lists across to mailman from ezmlm , and can't seem to find an easy way of doing it. I think I've found something that'll bring them in from a .mbox file, but these are currently in a Maildir/ format. Anyone got an easy way to convert them across ? Thanks !!
