Re: [yt-users] Installing yt within Enzo 1.5
Hi there!
The installation script has changed a bit; we now rely more on
easy_install, which helps keep us up-to-date with bug fixes and
whatnot. (You can find more information about easy_install here:
http://peak.telecommunity.com/DevCenter/EasyInstall ) One of the side
effects is that the numpy installation is a bib slower, with less
information. How long did you wait before killing it? It can take a
while! (I will put a note in the script to this effect shortly.)

PS You might also note that I've turned off the INST_WXPYTHON variable
too -- it was causing too many problems at large-scale supercomputer
installations to be on by default. Sorry about that!

Hi,
Enzo 1.5 works fine but yt won't install from within it (enzo/src/yt). It hangs at numpy. I've installed yt before but had to hand install several other things for wxPython, for gtk++ etc. Is the yt included in this installation any different then?
Thanks for your time.

Matt, So will my old installation of yt work with the new Enzo 1.5, and are there changes-improvements to yt only available in the installation within Enzo 1.5? Thanks for your time. R.Soares On Mon, 2008-11-10 at 08:37 -0800, Matthew Turk wrote:

Good question --
Your old installation of yt should work.
The version bundled with Enzo 1.5 is from the branches/yt-1.0/ section
of the repository; as such, it is largely stable against changes, and
has been in something of a maintenance mode for a few months now, with
few featuers being added. If you want the latest and greatest -- but
also less tested! -- yt, you'd be installing from trunk.
So I'd say, if you are having success wiht an already-installed
version of yt, don't bother installing a new one for now. I'll notify
this list if there are any major bugs or bug fixes that require an
update.
