Hi Latif,

I'm sorry you're having a problem! Here are a few things to check and report back on, please: - Is there a "rockstar.cfg" file in your yt directory (e.g. yt-install/src/yt-hg/rockstar.cfg)? - Do you have a yt-install/src/Rockstar directory, and a yt-install/src/rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz file? - If you have it, inside the directory above, do you have a file "librockstar.so"? -- Stephen Skory s@skory.us http://stephenskory.com/ 510.621.3687 (google voice)
Hi Stephan, Many thanks for a prompt response. It is highly appreciated.
- Is there a "rockstar.cfg" file in your yt directory (e.g. yt-install/src/yt-hg/rockstar.cfg)?
No, there is no such file.
- Do you have a yt-install/src/Rockstar directory, and a yt-install/src/rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz file?
Yes, i do have a tar file.
- If you have it, inside the directory above, do you have a file "librockstar.so"?
Again, i can't see it. Another thing which might have lead to improper installation of rockstar halo finder. I encountered a problem related to this while installing yt development fork about a week ago. I had to replace Rockstar-0.99.tar.gz with rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz in install srcipt otherwise installation was failing. Cheers Latif
Hi Latif, Have you tried rerunning the latest version of the install script? It's located here: https://bitbucket.org/yt_analysis/yt/src/56d943997200890878efeb39e2d7bfbe029... Stephen can correct me but I believe that will set up rockstar properly. -Nathan On Dec 12, 2012, at 3:01 PM, Latif wrote:

Hi Guys,
I reinstalled yt with new install script as Nathan suggested. It seems to
me that script does not install rockstar properly. I am getting the same
error as in the previous installation.

When you reinstalled, did you obtain a new version of the installer file
from the website? Or did you use the old version of the installer that you
had previously? Recently (about a week ago), I discovered a bug with the
rockstar installation where there was a mismatch between rockstar and
Rockstar (as you have already pointed out). Stephen made a few changes to
the installer and then when I downloaded a fresh install.sh file, it worked
OK.

Hi Latif,
I didn't look into the details of install script and just tried to switch this flag on and get the following error (please see the end of reply).
Ok, I feel we're getting closer! That install flag definitely needs to be set to 1 :)
- Is there a yt-install/src/rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz file?
Yes, I can see a tar file in source directory
To be specific, do you see a ".tar" file, or the exact "rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz" file I asked about? If there is a difference in file name that could create a problem. -- Stephen Skory s@skory.us http://stephenskory.com/ 510.621.3687 (google voice)
Hi Latif,
It seems like the install script is not running the line
tar xfz Rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz
Can you try this? Replace the line number 709 in the install_script.sh that
says
[! -e Rockstar] && tar xfz rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz
for this
[! -e Rockstar ] && tar xfz rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz

Sorry for confusion, I have a .tar.gz file "rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz" .

Hi Latif and Carolina,
It seems like the install script is not running the line tar xfz Rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz
Can you try this? Replace the line number 709 in the install_script.sh that says [! -e Rockstar] && tar xfz rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz for this [! -e Rockstar ] && tar xfz rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz
My best guess agrees with Carolina that the .tar.gz file isn't being extracted. You might also manually extract that file in the /src/ directory (creating the "Rockstar" directory, upper case), and then re-run the install script. What's puzzling is that in the current tip of the install_script.sh, the tar command doesn't have a capitalized "Rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz" https://bitbucket.org/yt_analysis/yt/src/7dff8c5bd37734e3b24c1c3e033b30d5cfb... Hi Stephen, Carolina, Nathan and Cameron,
Thanks for rightly pointing out the problem and helping me out. Finally, I
was able to successfully install yt with rockstar. Just to summarize the
changes i made in install script for the convenience of future users:
line 46 INST_ROCKSTAR=1
line 709 [ ! -e Rockstar ] && tar xfz rockstar-0.99.6.tar.gz
Cheers
