On OS X, Preview and Acrobat Reader both show the shadow correctly.
It's very subtle though. It's a gradation between nothing at the edges
and a very light grey in the center. If your display isn't set
properly (e.g. if the brightness or contrast are too low) you may not
even notice it.
But the shadow is really not important, and it's not intrinsic to the
logo. Feel free to use the -noshadow version I sent.
