Perhaps mention the results to psf-members, since it's a PSF-owned logo.

The shadow in python-banner.pdf (attachment to my July 2 message) does
show up in Acrobat on my machine (OS X). The shadow is so subtle that
it may be hard to notice.
But converting between graphics formats often has issues. I don't know
if there's a good solution. I encourage anybody who has Illustrator (I
don't) to try things out.
Including no-shadow versions on the logo page is easy to do. I'll add
it to my to-do list.
