[AstroPy] Integrating an image viewer?

Likewise I would encourage use of imshow or figimage as the basis of
an image viewer. The matplotlib figures can be embedded in Tkinter,
gtk, or wxwindows (and if you want to embed in some other windowing
system, writing a new backend is generally not that hard).
