Hi everyone,

This is just to let you know that the final version of Astropy was
published by A&A this week:

A&A: http://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/abs/2013/10/aa22068-13/aa22068-13.html

ADS: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2013A%26A...558A..33A

If you use Astropy directly - or as a dependency to another package -
for your work, please remember if possible to acknowledge the use of
Astropy at the end of papers using the following acknowledgment:

"This research made use of Astropy, a community-developed core Python
package for Astronomy (Astropy Collaboration, 2013)."

including the reference to the above paper. Please also make sure that
you ask people at your institution who are not on this list to
acknowledge Astropy, as well as any other software they use.

Related to this, I just posted about software (and other)
acknowledgments in my blog:

http://astrofrog.github.io/blog/2013/10/02/acknowledging-tools-services-in-papers/

>From searching through ADS, it's clear that we are not acknowledging
the tools we should be acknowledging - let's try and change this, to
ensure that the many developers who volunteer on open source projects
get the credit they deserve!

The AstroBetter wiki is trying to collect all acknowledgments:

http://www.astrobetter.com/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=Acknowledgements

If you develop a package and would like people to acknowledge it in
papers, please add it to the above page!

Thanks,
Tom
