Apart from the workshops and talks, Poster presentation is being introduced as a new format in the conference this year. A Poster presentation provides an opportunity for more one-to-one interaction and allows accommodating more niche topics. This is a Call for Proposals for Poster session. The submissions are now open. The last date for submission is 25th September. To understand the purpose and format of Poster session and to see if it is a suitable format for your idea, please see the Call for Proposals at https://in.pycon.org/blog/2015/poster-presentation-2015.html What is a Poster Session Think of the science fair in your school. The idea is similar. A poster will have content sufficient for a short talk of maximum 8-10 slides. A board will be provided where presenters can put either one single Poster or a set of slides describing their project or idea. Audience walks around the area. They can read the Posters and initiate conversations if they have questions or comments. Who can submit? Come one and come all! If you have an idea, you should submit it. Since there is no speaking-to-a-hall-full-of-people bit involved, beginners may find this format less intimidating and a good launching pad for public speaking. On the other hand, experienced presenters will enjoy the intense one on one discussions this format facilitates. We encourage you to submit a Poster even if you have already submitted a talk proposal. If both are accepted, you can make use of the opportunity to extend the conversations beyond the talk. Even if your talk proposal is not accepted, it may be ideal for the Poster session. Important Dates - September 11th, 2015: Call for Poster proposals. - September 25th, 2015: Poster proposals due. - Oct 3rd & 4th, 2015: Poster sessions. Please share your feedback and if you have any other design please share. Few people suggested it will be good to distribute stickers during PyCon India. The question remains who will fund the stickers cost. Stickers cost normally Rs 8 - Rs 10 from InkMonk. There will be definitely couple more. Any thoughts for financing stickers ? In case you are confused or if we sound too pretentious, think of Dev sprint as having a good time, coding hands-on with your fellow Python programmers. The atmosphere will be that of an intense one, extremely focused on projects, with mentors hanging around to help you overcome any roadblock that you might face. The usual outcome of these intense sprints are patches, bug fixes and numerous upstream pull requests from almost all the participants. Been dreaming about contributing to open source projects? Well, look no further because there won't be a better chance than this. The Sprint will be held on Oct 2nd from 9AM - 7.30 PM on the 1st floor of the conference venue. We have started off with the registrations of the PyCon India 2015 - Dev Sprint. Participation in Dev Sprint is completely free but the venue can accomodate only 150 participants. So, We will accept participants on a strictly First-Come, First-Served basis. Fill up the google form[1] to register to Dev Sprint as a participant. It's compulsory for the participant to have PyCon India ticket. Last date of Registration - 24th September 2015. The roles are defined as part of the application and I'm looking for a way to provide flexible access control by mapping permissions to roles. Role-based access control seems to be doing that very well, but I couldn't find a python library implementing that. FYI - this hasnt got much to do with Python. You might be better off posting in more generic forums. To conclude my suggestion on pandoc, here is how you would use this. $ pandoc -f html -t docx -S -s input.hml -o output.docx I just tried this for a sample document and it produces readable document which loads in Open office. You can adjust the conversion by trying various options of pandoc (pandoc -h). Suggest to try a bit yourselves before asking further help. - -- Regards, - --Anand - ---------------------------- Software Architect/Consultant anandpillai at letterboxes.org Cell: +919880078014 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJWC85wAAoJEHKU2n17CpvDjEAH/3wJ/+qmdU5rU1I1mwPG2pfz Jokm0C1gX6JmnDBTwRpqyLH49YQdpBH4MKJVu49DZ2PE1jGuSUQ5AA32A7eUEOys V8TzqsM8WWxK03s5ILF8v44jfEZoX/cYAghXxkJ1GVdd51GPEFnN6ypSXlfmyocp 2OiWGMqAnaNNrSBOAfcBqiHXLsrPkBukFXDAWcVSAOHTWCXHkWBGwZGrVoercV/7 SdRbUlVVJwTqwzDFWVaHT50dUNAQcxpFEuLNiGWGNxhSAp3ifu7gAAcsXXusarCY GiYz3SOJWhI1uBCvwieFPRfTGqmz+/C5LgSeMUrgT+vuEfYe+tJLSItJn6Rg2OU= =aD+V -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From sandeepgorrey at gmail.com Wed Sep 30 14:05:26 2015 From: sandeepgorrey at gmail.com (Sandeep) Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 14:05:26 +0200 Subject: [BangPypers] HTML to doc conversion In-Reply-To: References: <3FA5CBF5-B611-4714-9B0C-48335DB28588@gmail.com> Message-ID: <9EF6377C-6691-4330-B6A1-524A07481409@gmail.com> Hello Harish I have not tried abiword yet, will use that and update you Regards Sandeep > On Sep 30, 2015, at 1:46 PM, harish badrinath wrote: > > Hello, > > > >> On Wed, Sep 30, 2015 at 2:51 PM, Sandeep wrote: >> Hello shoanm, >> >> The want to convert html to word document and not PDF > Just a small clarification will RTF do or do you have a preference for > MS word ?? > > Have you tried abiword as given in http://askubuntu.com/a/278759 ?? > > > Regards, > Harish > _______________________________________________ > BangPypers mailing list > BangPypers at python.org > https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/bangpypers From tyagi.atul at gmail.com Wed Sep 30 15:40:49 2015 From: tyagi.atul at gmail.com (Atul Tyagi) Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 19:10:49 +0530 Subject: [BangPypers] generating cisco config using templates?
