The printer thread is done processing when this condition hits. Once this condition is hit, items are no longer fetches from the output_queue. However, the `printer` does not wait _until_ every item from the input_queue has made it to the output_queue. The q.join() at the end waits for all items to be fetched from both queues. So, on the off-chance that the printer hit its condition prematurely at some point, but workers kept pushing more items into the output_queue, the program would wait on the join(). In executions, you'd see that not all elements are printed from the output_queue. As a test, I replaced the check in the printer to process till all elements are fetched (using count). This ensures that `printer` runs till every element is pulled out of the output_queue. With this change, it doesn't seem to hang. Meanwhile, I figured out that you can use logging module as that is thread-safe and allows you to check each step, and seems like the right way to debug threaded code. I am guessing it was a combination of using "sys.stdout.write()" and "while not q.empty()" condition. "sys.stdout.write()" must not be thread-safe, will have to check the library reference. I replaced "sys.stdout.write() and flush()" with logging.info() and added a "while True:" loop around "while not q.empty():" and that also fixed the issue with printer thread. So far I tested it up to 10,000 invocations and all behave correctly. The code where I want to adapt this the queue lengths are expected to be infinite until the process quits, so can't depend on length of queue just if it is empty or not. Register NOW!! -?https://www.eventbank.com/event/648/ ? Theme of the?Congress?is?Emerging from Dark Cloud Arising The global economy slowdown is seeing share prices of technology firms, especially firms providing cloud computing or related services taking a beating. We have created a cloud industry that today saw adoption rates at the highest and a high service provisioning maturity. In a self-fulfilling prophecy, cloud computing firms saw demand for their services decreases due to lower manufacturing demand, which sort of validated what we were selling at the start - an on-demand cloud that plays on the OpEx! So we are seeing validation of our 2009 sales pitch - where companies actually managed to downscale their demand for cloud services in accordance with market trends and demand, in REAL TIME! So does this mean that we shot ourselves in our foot? That we shall instead ?introduce? inefficiencies into the cloud? Or shall we be looking at the building from a solid foundation - leveraging the cloud, building more applications o top of it, creating that delta of services that enable business and create customer satisfaction! So instead of a doomsday message, the ?The Four Horsemen of Apocalypse - Mobile, Big Data Analytics and Social (On top of Cloud) ? are bringing new opportunities that will drive the global economy forward just like what cloud computing did back in 2009! Behind every cloud is another cloud. We just have to make sure that there is a silver lining in that as well! The conference will feature some of the region?s and world?s most influential minds in information security and cloud computing including: ? ?????????Shri. Ajay Kumar, Additional Secretary at Ministry of Electronics & Information technology (Invited) ?????????Rajiv R. Chetwani, Director Information Systems Programme Office at ISRO ?????????Sri. It has its own strengths and weaknesses and if one of the shortcomings is a showstopper for the PyCon Pune team, spending time fixing the software is a bad investment given how close the actual event is. Using whatever is available, even if it's low tech or not written in python, to keep the momentum going and getting things done is better than fixing software. After all, during the conference, the question of which system was used to gather and sort through the CFPs is more or less irrelevant. -- Cordially, Noufal http://nibrahim.net.in From chetan.khatri at live.com Mon Nov 21 12:02:45 2016 From: chetan.khatri at live.com (Chetan Khatri) Date: Mon, 21 Nov 2016 17:02:45 +0000 Subject: [BangPypers] Error while installing nltk data with Python 2.7 Message-ID: Hello All, I am getting error while installing nltk data with python 2.7 as below, Error downloading u'lin_thesaurus' from [nltk_data] | : [nltk_data] | [SSL: DECRYPTION_FAILED_OR_BAD_RECORD_MAC] [nltk_data] | decryption failed or bad record mac (_ssl.c:1754) I also tried with Python 3.4 but no hope !
