If the *server* is listening on IP address 127.0.0.1 (localhost), you never 
will be able to access the server from another machine.  The server needs 
to listen on IP address 0.0.0.0 for what you want to do.  I don't know 
about Plone docs but your description sounds very much like your server is 
listening on 127.0.0.1.
