You already have the answer as to how to keep configparser case unchanged.
You also asked about alternatives. I use ConfigObj, it keeps values (keys)
in the order defined and allows nested definitions along with a few other
friendly features. If you don't mind it not being in the standard distro, it
is pretty cool.
