I haven't done any benchmarking yet, but the ease of use is so darn good that I am extremely impressed. I was planning to use celery+redis, but this makes things so easy that i do not have to take care of anything else. I think this would work just fine for most of the websites/webapps that are not expecting a gazillion hits/tasks. I love simple but powerful constructs(another e.g Django's content-types), and Spooler was one such. Any other experiences to share? Especially, i would love to hear from someone who can share cons of Spooler or its reliability. I am writing to you guys to introduce a small utility I made called CodeBunk (http://codebunk.com). CodeBunk is a tool ideally suited for interviewing developers online. It consists of a Collaborative Editor, a Compiler/Interpreter for 7 languages (Python being one of them), and Video/Audio Chat. Being a Python lover myself, I wrote the utility in Python (Flask). You can also follow CodeBunk on Facebook at http://facebook.com/codebnk or on twitter at http://twitter.com/CodeBunk If you are a Quora user, you can review CodeBunk or ask/answer CodeBunk related questions at http://www.quora.com/CodeBunk I request you all to check out CodeBunk once, and to recommend it to others if you like it. In either case, do let me know what you think of CodeBunk and whether you or your company will use it for Interviewing purposes. The only viable public transit option for Caltrain that I'm aware of is the VTA 40 bus but you need to pay close attention to its schedule and the Caltrain schedule and you'll need to walk a bit to connect from the 40 with Caltrain at the San Antonio station. Otherwise, the 40 connects with various other VTA bus lines at the San Antonio Transit Center. http://transit.511.org http://www.vta.org/schedules/SC_40.html -- Ned Deily, nad at acm.org From glen at glenjarvis.com Fri May 24 18:45:20 2013 From: glen at glenjarvis.com (Glen Jarvis) Date: Fri, 24 May 2013 09:45:20 -0700 Subject: [Baypiggies] Let me kick off the discussions Message-ID: Several ideas were kicked around last night. (Code Camp at Foothill in October Ahead of Last Year) Last year at this time we had less than half of the currently listed 122 sessions. We almost missed having Douglas Crockfordfor year number 8 but to our good fortune, his Europe plans changed and he is again hear for his 8th year in row! As part of our new web site design, we've created a brand new Spread The Word badge that we would very much appreciate you posting on your blog, internal or external company web sites, or any social network that will take it. Attracting world class speakers is something that all you attendees make happen by coming in such large numbers so please help us spread the word. All you have to do is go to the page: SpreadTheWord, copy the html from the text box and put it on your site. You can see an example of what this looks like below: [image: CodeCamp Number 8 at FootHill College.] *(Notice you can change the width of the banner displayed by changing the w=250 at the end of the pasted text)* We are actively seeking Track Organizers and Sponsors for code camp. Not all sessions at camp are tracked, but for those that are it's important we have key people make sure those tracks have consistent high quality content. If you are interested in being an organizer, please let us know. As always, thanks for everyone's awesome support. We succeed every year because of the big efforts of our great speakers, sponsors and of course you attendees. And, of course, please make sure you are registered by logging into the site, going to your profile page and making sure you have checked the days you plan on attending. Then, choose the sessions you are interested in by going to the sessions page.
